Some commands do not work in org mode (doom emacs, iTerm)

elexhobby · 2022-06-04 05:23
If I open emacs in iTerm using "emacsclient -c", and press Ctrl-Enter in org mode to create a new heading, I get an error that > Window system frame should be used However, Ctrl-Enter works if I open Emacs using the Emacs mac app in the Applications folder. Why this behavior? How can I use all features in org mode in iTerm?

Sounds like it wants to run something that needs a graphical window (frame). That's a weird case as all it should be doing is inserting a new line with some markup text. On my vanilla+evil setup C-enter works fine in the terminal. Meaning it's probably a doom enhancement. Check what it's actually doing with `C-h k C-CR`(control-h k control-enter). It should jump to a help window for org-insert-heading-or-whatever-its-called. Also, try turning on debug-on-error `(setq debug-on-error t)` and the backtrace should show something.

Thank you. The output of C-h k C-CR is pasted here https://pastebin.com/dbzys02S. It is dwim-at-point, a bunch of if-else statements. The debug-on-error output is at https://pastebin.com/T4hA2NPx, which again points to dwim-at-point, but I cannot figure out what is wrong from the backtrace.

It appears that you use Doom. If so, it should be a Doom bug and you can report it to https://github.com/doomemacs/doomemacs Meanwhile, you may bind C-<RET> back to `org-ctrl-c-ret` loosing some fancy Doom extras, but getting rid of the error.
