Ive been using EXWM/Emacs Window Manager on gentoo linux, but ive run into a problem when i need to use F1-F12 for a commandline tool(alsa mixer). When i hold fn key with any F*, it'll always either start a macro or say it's undefined. Help D:

IIRC, in EXWM line mode "C-c C-q" will send next key to the X application in the buffer.
Are you doing this through a terminal emulator or Emacs' native shell capabilities ("M-x shell", etc.)?

Nope, You mean the C-c C-j line mode, right? Even typing C-c C-q before fn F* doesn't work for me.
I'm using term since shell is weird.
Maybe I need to set some config at the .emacs file or smg

https://github.com/ch11ng/exwm/wiki#local-key-bindings says C-c C-q should send to an X window. But that's irrelevant if you're in term.
Try the code outlined here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/2396680/let-emacs-send-fn-keys-to-programs-in-ansi-term and see how it goes... But it's worth saying this is an issue with term and not EXWM.

Alright, thx

You can also hit `C-c C-k` to enter char mode. `s-r` puts you back in line mode.

Do you use Evil? I'm using an EXWM Evil package I wrote that lets me send all keys except escape in insert state.

I generally try to avoid other people's configurations, so its easier to make them myself

If /u/Lemon Breezes has solved this issue with evil, I'd be surprised if taking a peek at their code didn't make it easier to make yourself.

Ur right, but i try not to mess with the config and keybindings too much if theres a default way to do things
