Dear emacs subreddit,
I need help with vterm installation, cause I've already spent more than a day digging into it.
I've installed vterm, but when I run M-x vterm, then nothing happens.
init.el file content:
;; Default shell
(setq-default explicit-shell-file-name "/bin/bash")
(require 'package)
(add-to-list 'package-archives '("melpa" . "https://melpa.org/packages/"))
;;vterm
(use-package vterm
:load-path "/path/to/emacs-libvterm")
Emacs has modules support:
$ emacs -batch --eval="(prin1 module-file-suffix)"; echo
".so"
$ emacs -batch --eval="(prin1 system-configuration-features)"; echo
"ACL CAIRO DBUS FREETYPE GIF GLIB GMP GNUTLS GPM GSETTINGS HARFBUZZ JPEG JSON LCMS2 LIBOTF LIBSELINUX LIBSYSTEMD LIBXML2 M17N_FLT MODULES NATIVE_COMP NOTIFY INOTIFY PDUMPER PNG RSVG SECCOMP SOUND THREADS TIFF TOOLKIT_SCROLL_BARS X11 XDBE XIM XINPUT2 XPM GTK3 ZLIB"
It has been successfully built:
emacs-libvterm/build$ make
[ 8%] Performing update step for 'libvterm'
[ 16%] No configure step for 'libvterm'
[ 25%] Performing build step for 'libvterm'
[ 33%] No install step for 'libvterm'
[ 41%] Completed 'libvterm'
[ 66%] Built target libvterm
[100%] Built target vterm-module
emacs version:
emacs (edge) 29.0.50-master-44e5339 from Alex Murray (alexmurray) installed
Would be great to see at least some errors/warnings, but in my case nothing happens.
Please, help to find out, what I'm missing.
**UPDATE.** The reason was that $SHELL variable hasn't been set properly.
It was pointing to the old missing shell.
