Pyvenv not recognizing packages installed in virtual env

cog1tar3 · 2022-05-19 22:14
I am using Pyvenv to manage and use python virtual environments in emacs, however, any time I activate a venv, emacs is not able to resolve the dependencies that I have installed in that specific virtual env. Specifically I am having issues with PyCrytodome. Does anyone know a fix to this issue?

Check `import sys; sys.path`. Usually where you think the package is installed isn't correct.

It's a bit messy and it depends a lot on how you have things set up. Are you using https://github.com/jorgenschaefer/pyvenv ? In general, a good starting point is to wrap as much as possible in https://github.com/10sr/with-venv-el I haven't used pyvenv, but I know the pain of the python ecosystem. The best thing I've tried so far is poetry + pyenv.
