Problem with precision-scroll-mode in lsp-mode

ExistingProgram3883 · 2022-05-14 08:43
Hello, when I use Emacs 29's `precision-scroll-mode` in `lsp-mode` I can't scroll with the mouse wheel anymore. Scrolling with a trackpad on a notebook works perfectly fine, however. Has anybody experienced the same issue? Can anybody point me to some resources on how to narrow this issue down and solve it eventually? Thanks!

1. Pick up your mouse 2. Follow the cord to where it connects to your computer 3. Pull the cord out 4. Throw the mouse in the trash Seriously, of course you should keep your mouse, but one of the best pieces of advice you will ever receive is this: wean yourself off it. In Emacs especially, there is *nothing* that is faster using the mouse. (use-package disable-mouse :ensure t :commands global-disable-mouse-mode :init (global-disable-mouse-mode)) It's tough for the first day or two, then you start noticing you're becoming a speed demon. It only gets better over time.

>In Emacs especially, there is *nothing* that is faster using the mouse. Resizing windows? ;-)

Nope. Have you tried both ways? I take it you're talking about Emacs windows. If you mean Emacs frames, then a) still nope and b) when you use the mouse, it is your window manager which is responding, not Emacs, at least until you release the mouse button. Also, wrt Emacs frames, not an issue for the truly mouse-liberated, who tend to use tiling window managers such as StumpWM and EXWM. I literally never use the mouse for window sizing and placement. Never. I have a trackball with thumb-operated buttons right next to the spacebar on my keyboard, so using the mouse is actually quicker for me than it is for most mouse users, and I still don't use it. I have familiar keystrokes that place windows exactly where I want them whenever I need to move or resize them.

I mean Emacs windows, not frames. And yes, I've tried both the mouse and the keyboard for it and my conclusion is that using the mouse is simply hassle-free---spamming the keyboard works, but I find it more comfortable to use the mouse.
