It is currently set to 12 hours time hh:mm and i would like 24 hours time hh:mm:ss

To get 24 hour time, set `display-time-24-hr-format` to a non-nil value. You can find the option in `M-x customize-group RET display-time RET`.
If you want seconds, instead set `display-time-format` to `%H:%M:%S` and set `display-time-interval` to `1`.
