Project name in modeline with project.el

The title says it all! How can I have the project name in the modeline with the bult-in project.el?

Bare-bones: `(setq global-mode-string (append global-mode-string '((:eval (project-root (project-current)))))` But maybe you want ro regex match out the rest of the path and pad this string. But could be a starting point.
