What do you use to show and highlight indent guides?
So far I've tried these packages, but all of them seems to be missing something:
Indent guide (https://github.com/zk-phi/indent-guide):
- Doesn't highlight the indent guide of the current block in a different face of the other lines
- Doesn't keep all the indent guides, only the parents and current block
Highlight indent guides (https://github.com/DarthFennec/highlight-indent-guides):
- Doesn't show the indent guide on empty lines
Highlight indentation (https://github.com/antonj/Highlight-Indentation-for-Emacs)
- Doesn't highlight the guide of the current block, instead it highlights the whole column
- Doesn't highlight the guide of the block when inside parens
Do you guys use this feature? While searching for a solution, I was surprised that some people wanted to remove it from their editors/IDE.
Maybe I missing something, so if someone has a suggestion or workaround to get the indent guides like in other editors, I appreciate.
Thanks!

It's important to know what you use the guides for too. Are you using it for braceless syntaxes? If not, `rainbow-delimiters` is plenty enough I find
I use indent guides for Python only and even there proper spacing between blocks is enough to follow the code IMO. The issue was that I didn't always have control over that so I went with DarthFennec's, where no guide for empty lines is actually a feature I was looking for

I use `highlight-indent-guides`. My main gripe is that it can be relatively resource heavy. I made my choice mostly based on aesthetics. It looked nicer than other packages I've tried. I also recently checked for better (and maintained) alternatives but came up empty.

I am still hoping for a built-in solution in C as discussed [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/emacs/comments/ccayus/would_you_like_a_builtin_highlightindentation/)

I'd like that too, but it seems that the discussion didn't get anywhere, at least in the mailing list it died in 2019.

I'd like to use for both, I think it makes it easier to follow the function blocks, together with `rainbow-delimiters`. I think the DarthFennec's one is the most complete, but it looks a bit weird without guides for empty lines, at least when using a box drawing character.

Yes, it seems that most users aren't that interested in this feature, unfortunately.
