This is my first emacs module/contribution, feedback welcome.
Requires GUI/non-terminal emacs.
Doom packages.el:
(package! pulsing-cursor
:recipe (:host github :repo "jasonjckn/pulsing-cursor"))
Emacs config:
(use-package pulsing-cursor
:config (pulsing-cursor-mode +1))

Could you say something about how this differs from the built-in `blink-cursor-mode`? I'm not immediately seeing a difference from the GIF or your README.
Null-A · 2022-04-22 22:42
The cursor is blinking with interpolations of the alpha channel / transparency. I see now in the GIF it's not that easy to notice, my bad for the GIF @ 20 fps rendering, its much more noticeable IRL @ 60 fps / monitor refresh rate.

May I ask what font you're using?
Null-A · 2022-04-23 00:54
Cascadia Code
maskedvandal · 2022-04-23 00:58
Thank you! I'll try that, along with your extension, when I get home to my Debian box.

oh my god i love this so much lol

Theme?
Null-A · 2022-04-23 02:31
Custom theme, modeled off of vscode's radical theme.

this is cute! i love it
fabiopapa · 2022-04-23 05:39
Awesome little detail. Using it right now and love it. Thank you for the work you put into it.

A minor nitpick, but I guess that's my pet peeve at this point: `use-package` doesn't install anything, you need to instruct it to do so using some method it can integrate with (`:ensure`, `:straight`, or a global equivalent).
CIAvash · 2022-04-23 06:52
Is it possible to change the duration of the fade animation?
Null-A · 2022-04-23 06:54
try setting pulsing-cursor-interval to a larger value, but this part of the code needs more work
CIAvash · 2022-04-23 08:56
I tried that, but it seems that just delays the blinking not the animation itself.

I really want to see this ba-dump ba-dump ba-dump like a beating heart...
Null-A · 2022-04-24 04:08
I actually have a heartbeat sound fx mode too funny enough, I don't use it anymore though. Only works on macOS.

(I wasn't sure what you meant w.r.t to the pulsing cursor, do you just want to be able to set the intervals)
quantum_mattress · 2022-04-25 23:01
I just downloaded this, eval-buffer on it, and then (pulsing-cursor-mode +1)
Nothing happened. Just same blink cursor. Running 28.1 on Centos 7.9.2009. I know it's running because I can customize stuff like Pulsing Cursor Interval and see that affects the blinking but there's no pulsing. Any ideas?
Null-A · 2022-04-26 00:36
Are you using a GUI/non-terminal instance of emacs? Terminal won't work.
Also if you invoke it interactively, M-x pulsing-cursor-mode, it should say "Pulsing-cursor mode enabled" in messages. Double check that.
What kind of configuration system are you using? i.e. prelude, spacemacs, doom, DIY, etc.

I’m in GUI mode. Plain old gnu emacs - been running over 20 years! A couple of odd things I’ve seen.
1) Ran emacs -Q and it didn’t work at first by starting it by evaluating (pulsing-cursor-mode +1) in *scratch*. But then using m-x pulsing-cursor-mode worked!
2) Tried this in my normal emacs and it displayed correctly in messages but still regular blinking cursor. Maybe some conflict with my init but I don’t see anything obvious.

I don't know sorry, but if you figure it out, let me know and i'll push a fix. You seem to be the only one with this issue that I know about.
