after package upgrades I can no longer open epub files with nov

I recently upgraded packages and now when I try to open an epub file within emacs using nov.el I get "Wrong type argument: arrayp, nil." Could anyone help me with this? If I revert to my emacs.d backup before upgrading it works fine. Thanks for any suggestions.

Sometimes deleting .elc files fix these kinds of issues for me ... or wiping all the packages and reinstalling them.

Thanks for the idea. I may give that a try.

I recompiled all my packages and still get the same error when trying to open an epub.

Just a quick update. I bit the bullet and did what you said and just started from scratch and reinstalled everything, and sure enough nov epub reader now works fine. The process wasn't so time consuming as I feared. Anyway, thanks.

Another update. As I mentioned the problem went away when I re-downloaded and compiled all packages from melpa. But today it came back again. So I noted down what customization changes I did between when nov epub worked and when it didn't, and strangely, it was toggling org roam db autosync mode to on that caused the problem, and setting the toggle to nil made the problem go away. Weird.

I have had similar problems with packages altering `find-file-hook` causing nov to stop opening files.
