I have a problem that I think is related to space width.
In the dashboard the text is not centered anymore, but with whitespace-mode it's fixed, since it replaces every space with another character.

In a regular c file, again the space width is inconsistent with the tab width (8 spaces to tab)

I'm using MesloLGS NF everywhere I can see inside *M-x customize*, and I even put *:spacing m* in init.el in *custom-set-faces* but doesn't work.
How do you set spacing just for the space character? Are there other settings that determine font other than in *customize -> faces -> basic faces -> default*? How do I debut problems with font faces?
EDIT:
I've nuked my init.el file and now everything works, unfortunately I can't replicate the weird font config that caused different width spaces. :(. Extra info: deleting font cache (sudo atsutil databases -remove) did nothing.

I’ve seen a few people report these kind of issues over the past year or so. I had similar behavior on and off last year myself too, but only after changing themes or fonts around though, and a restart of Emacs always resolved it.
There was even an [issue](https://github.com/jimeh/emacs-builds/issues/18) reported on my own Emacs builds, but I could no longer re-produce it my variant of the issue at all, and the issue eventually went away for those who’d reported it.
If it happens again I’d be curious if you could try a more selective nuking of different caches and stuff (packages, native-comp, etc) within your config to try and get some more understanding of it. It’s certainly a head scratcher.

Few days ago I had the same issue. Was pissed of, but restarting helped. It happened to me few times but I still haven't figure out what is causing it.

Weird, I still haven’t had this issue even once since my last response to the issue I linked above.
I guess the fact there are lots of ways to get a build of Emacs on macOS probably doesn’t help to track down those kind of obscure issues… lol

This is happening to me as well. I noticed it because all of my Org-mode tags are not longer aligned, even though they are indeed in the same logical column.
