Files/ folders with a leading dot are hidden in Finder by default. Cmd-shift-. will reveal them.

But you love macos more the emacs :(
I wouldn't share my bed with anybody who has a problem with emacs. And I wouldn't say that my life depends on emacs. Maybe it is not to late to return the computer and give the saved money to a good cause? Like for ukrainian refugees(because your current Kanzler is such a dickhead!!!).
You are a prose writer so I'm sure you thought once or twice what real love means.
For me real love means to install a super stable operating system like freebsd on your computer and configure it so that there is only emacs. Nothing else besides an emacs in fullscreen and darkmode. That's so beautiful, i would even go so far as calling it pornography.
I don't have really a big problem with macos, but let's be honest: Linux&FreeBSD are way better and much more ecological and moral to use. And most important they don't have a problem with emacs.
The operating system must accept the fact that emacs is more important for you then her.
Otherwise it's not the right operating system.
The only reason why emacs is not by default installed on every unix system is out of respect. Emacs isn't just a piece of software or a texteditor. It's at least an operating system, but even more: it's a way of life. So please consider for a moment whether macos is really the right system for emacs. What would emacs's creator say about this?
Do you really love emacs or are you only using her?
Do really think that emacs looks good on macos?
And it can't be only about what you want from emacs, but also what you have to offer Emacs.
Emacs deserves the best OS. The OS should be for emacs and not the other way around.
I apologize for the antimacos rant here. But it's all because of your Kanzler!
And because of the love for emacs <3

:))
I will install ubuntu on M1 (dual boot) and then I will decide whats better ... and yes so far emacs looks fantastic on macos, but okay ... thats only because I installed betterdummy. Now I got a really suberb font rendering on my old Dell 1908fp (1920x1080). I bought that one for €30. So good (as good as 4k, really). Couldn't test emacs for long but scrolling is better than on windows.
Emacs works now but two things (and I hope somebody can help me): typopunct plugin and org-bullets dont work. Has anybody an idea whats the reason? But I don't get errors at all. it just doesn't work ... Loading path is fine, writeroom plugin works.
And my last question: function keys f1-f12 don't to work with emacs. Is this a mac os thing?
On windows it worked.
PS: Scholz is not my Kanzler, because I'm no german, so I'm only living in germany without having the right to vote.

If you press CTRL while opening emacs from the application folder you'll get the option to open the application. It's some sort of "security" thing. Once you opted to "open anyway" (I think that is the term) you should be able to open it.

Thanks a lot, it works ... now I could also install emacs 28 without any problems!

Ubuntu is not my favorite system and i wouldn't call it's default settings pretty, but it's an free system and it's Linux, so you can configure it to look and behave as you wish to.
For instance dump the default desktop environment and replace it with some very basic and simple window manager. For me some way to start up applications is enough. A terminal emulator(which i replace more and more with emacs) and a webbrowser(which i also replace sometimes with distraction free webbrowsing on emacs) is what i use. I don't need nor want anymore all the rest of kde or gnome.
Not to mention Windows or macos.
I was inspired by you writers for this when i saw how nice emacs looks with writeroom. I liked the concept of distraction free work(and it course simplicity and minimalism) so much that i will never ever again use heavy desktop environments. You can run then a Linux or bsd system comfortably on an old PC for 40eu. I agree now with miss Greta Thunberg on buying new stuff(I'm not sure whether it's for esthetical or ethical reasons).
As for the F1 problem I can only suggest how i would investigate the problem:
You can get help text in emacs for any key action by pressing c-h k some-key-combinaton
Then you will see whether emacs recognizes the F keys or not.
I see the following possibilities:
1) The F keys can be not catched at all - that means probably that the OS catched the key press and didn't send it to emacs(that would be then a macos problem).
2) you will see a different key code appearing instead of F1,F2...
You could then just remap the functions you need to these keys.
3) you will see the F keys getting pressed but your functions aren't called. Then you still can remap your keys to these functions.
It's also possible that the functions mapped to the F keys are called but something else is messed up, but i don't think that all functions that are mapped to a F key are not working. I guess it's either 1) or 2).
I took a look at the source code of the typopunct plugin.
It's initial authors last name is Scholz. I guess Elisa agrees with me as to politics and boycotts him!
Please tell any German you meet that people like Scholz and Schröder are a shame and disgrace for them. Having not voted for him will not wash away the dishonor. Use the "Auschwitz-Keule" if necessary(it works quite well with them).
I'll be next week in Berlin to take over this task from you.
It's us filthy rich Europeans who finance the genocide in the Ukraine. We need to buy cheap Russian gas so that we can buy even more new stuff(although we could live a good life on old and used stuff). They are buying bombs and mobile crematories for this and destroy one city after the other.
I don't expect the French to behave different. But i believe in German humanism. There is a chance that they will understand what we are doing here. We can afford so much stuff because our leaders give money to terrorists who need right now money to kill as many Ukrainians as possible.
You wield the mightiest weapon in human history: the pen. And by using a Mac you are cool, so people will rather listen to you then to a crazy nutjob like me.
I believe that the war will end if i write a thousand rants on the emacs Reddit. You might have better ideas.
Coming back to emacs, i like how writeroom looks on my 14 inch laptop. That's the perfect size and proportions for a good experience. I am also experimenting with UHD TVs, but i haven't that fully setup yet. One 60 inch tv is in my bed. I want to buy another one to stand in the living room. All connected to PCs in a network. UHD is 4 times HD, so a 40 inch tv is like 4 20 inch screens glued together. That's the intended workoholic mode for me.
But the ux on the 14 inch laptop with distraction free emacs is so fantastic that I'm not sure if something can be better than that!

Sanx a lot for your words on function keys ... I got typopunct working, I made a stupid mistake as I just didnt drop the file in my plugin folder. :D
Well, Scholz is traditionally called Scholz-o-mat because of a good reason .... he's a notorious apparatschik.
Yes: my Emacs is super clean and distraction free. Just a blank sheet without borders, without menu, no modeline ... nothing, only words and tons of useful stuff below the surface ... and I only bought my mac because I want to have the absolut best/smoothest font rendering.
