There are at least two fundamental ways of reading email. The first, and the one I think is more common, is to open the inbox and choose an email to read from the list. Let's call it the random access method. The other method is to open an email, preferably the oldest unread one, and when you are done open the next one by pressing a "next email" button. Let's call it the linked list method.
When I read email using the random access method I frequently ignore email I feel are annoying to deal with. I also get drained of energy by having to repeatedly choose which emails to read. The linked list method on the other hand side steps both issues: I only have to make the single decision to read email and then I read the entire inbox.
This package was born from the realization that I like the linked list method, and that I would like to handle more things this way. So what el-secretario does is that it turns different sources (e.g. org-mode todo items or RSS feeds) into linked list-style inboxes. And it doesn't stop there, it can also link different lists together so that email, org-mode items and RSS feeds come under the same unified inbox.

I don't know if el-secretario already has this feature, but something that Gnus (and Info with its documents) allows you to do is press space to go through the email. When space is pressed at the beginning of a longer email, it will scroll forwards, but once at the end, pressing space will go to the next email.

Hmm, that sounds very useful. I haven't done this yet, but it should be pretty easy then to create some gnus support in el-secretario. Email clients are generally pretty easy since they often already have much of the functionality. See for example the source of the notmuch module: https://git.sr.ht/~zetagon/el-secretario/tree/master/item/el-secretario-notmuch.el
i would need to know the following about gnus to be able to implement support for it:
1) Open the first unread email
2) Go to the next message (this would probably be the command `SPC` is bound to)
3) Make 2) return `t` if there is no more messages left.
edit: I would need these for complete support
4) go to the previous message
5) go to the last message of the query
Edit: I have now added support for this feature in the notmuch module using `notmuch-advance-and-archive`: https://sr.ht/~zetagon/el-secretario/#note-on-commands
