I switched from neovim where I could run tests for any language based on filetype. I do understand that in emacs there are “modes” and it is not simple to achieve such functionality. However, do you know plugin to handle at least Django tests?

Projectile.

As far as I know, projectile can run all tests. I’m interested in running specific files or units only

You can also spin up a shell like `eshell` or `vterm` and run the unit tests with pattern matching. If you use unittest, [see the docs here](https://docs.python.org/3/library/unittest.html#cmdoption-unittest-k).

You will find some modes (packages) on Melpa. I have used this one https://github.com/unrelentingtech/django-mode/ a bit in the past, but finally worked more in the terminal. That one https://github.com/davidmiller/pony-mode/ looks more developped. You can
Run test case at point in buffer [C-c C-p t]
Run tests for current app in buffer [C-c C-p t]
see also https://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/PythonProgrammingInEmacs#h5o-32 for test runners.

Thank you for the link on emacs wiki, that is exactly what I was looking for
