Totally unmeasured and unverified, but I feel like I notice a bit more Emacs content from French speakers than other non-English languages. Does this reflect a higher Emacs popularity in France than average? Could also be French people feeling less inclined to be forced to communicate in English, to which I say good for them. Also I could be completely mistaken.

If you want to check I invite you to look at the following source: https://www.emacs-doctor.com/
We meet once a month in video with u/zaeph and u/bzg in French to share around Emacs.
This forum allows you to exchange on the subject.

Cool stuff, I'll check it out =)

What I know is that GNU Emacs has long been the editor of choice when teaching computer science in French universities, this may (partly) explain why the French community is so active. Or maybe this is just an impression from our french accent ;)

My high-school French is struggling, but I am entertained by the term "vimistes".
Good luck with the community building!

Difficult to tell because I don't have a sample but among my friends (I'm 25) nobody uses it. Maybe the old guard does though.

That's widespread everywhere I think. Only a small proportion appreciate it, and many picked it up years ago when it was common to have to take time to explore, learn, and adapt to the tools. It's a harder sell today.
It's been a while now since I've worked on a team with another Emacs user. My entire SW department is 3 people now, so that doesn't mean much, but it increasingly is seen as an oddity.

Merci

I've explained how I generate my courses' notes or do stuff like have plantUML graphs integrated to my presentation or even run C/C++ code inside documents and some people seemed interested but the learning curve (keybindings, weird terminology, sometimes esoteric documentation) has them give up more often than not; especially with the other tools available today.

Maintenant que j'y pense, est-ce que tu crois que la communauté francophone serait intéressée par des articles de type blog, sur Emacs et en français ?
Davidbrcz · 2022-04-07 16:05
I could see a potential link with Ocaml popularity and Coq, both of which are often used with emacs.

Bien sûr toutes les ressources en français permettent d'aider plus facilement à se familiariser avec Emacs.
