Hi,
I have a silly question. I am using emacs on aws cli terminal. Everything works so I am happy but `m-x` button. Without that there are too many things that I can't pull up (such as `eshell`and `cider`).
Does anyone know any workarounds?
Thanks!

Btw, my local computer is mac and on aws I am using `aws-linux` in `EC2`.

i just found the answer. it was about my mac set up not about aws. Am leaving the page for someone who has the same issue.
Thanks.

Also note that you can always use `ESC x` instead of `M-x` (both terminal and GUI).

what do you mean by "aws cli terminal"?
an ssh session into an ec2 instance, from Terminal.app?
or the `aws ec2 instance-connect`?
or the terminal you can start from the aws web console?

right, i wasn't clear.
what i meant was ssh session into an ec2 instance. `ssh -i <your key> ec2-user@...`

your terminal emulator (Terminal.app, iTerm2, kitty, Hyper, Cathode) and its configuration also matters. even your keyboard layout settings too, which might provide you access to special, less frequently used characters, using the Option key (which you can disable with some "registry settings")
btw, the ESC + 0-9 are also mapped to function keys.
I can't remember where did I learn it from though.
I have my caps lock mapped to both ESC on single tap and Ctrl on hold, which leads to very minimal finger movement. So 3 finger chords, like C-M-x for evaluating defun, becomes a sequence of ESC, C-x and I didn't have to move my pinky.
works in both terminal and GUI Emacs.
