now I need to combine hyperbole, howm and org-mode.

I'm going to look into this more, for sure. Thanks for highlighting it!

Honestly never heard of it, but I appreciate the mention :)

If you have org-mode, won't it suffice? I just got that it's an alternative if you feel that org-mode is clunky and you don't most of its features (according to the author's words). One big difference I see is that org-mode is meant for you to keep your notes in larger monolithic files whereas howm is more like a one-note, one-file system.

Saving in case I ever get sick of org-mode

I think howm makes a lot of sense for some people as a lower complexity alternative to org-roam. Since howm is a minor mode, it makes a lot of sense to use it this way.

I thought this was going to be about the [window manager](https://github.com/HarveyHunt/howm/)

Related: * Bookmarks with annotations. With [Bookmark+](https://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/BookmarkPlus), annotations can inherit from any set of modes. And they can be indirections to separate files (instead of storing the annotation in the bookmark itself). * [LinkD](https://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/download/linkd.el) - very simple hyperlinking within or among files.

howm seems to do bidirectional linking really well. It's possible in org, but it's not as streamlined.
