Today is 2022-03-24 Thu. The following is marked DONE, but it still shows up today in the agenda. It does have the font face `org-agenda-done`. Maybe this is the expected behavior? I'm not sure, because other tasks disappear when I mark them done.
** DONE [#B] Touch goal +1 gym habit. Sooner is better, Mon, Tue, Wed
DEADLINE: <2022-03-24 Thu> SCHEDULED: <2022-03-21 Mon>

- State "DONE" from "TODO" [2022-03-24 Thu 02:30]

Done items always show up in my agenda, unless you make a specific agenda command that ignores todos with the DONE state

I have this in my init.el
;; dont' show done tasks in agenda view
(setq org-agenda-skip-scheduled-if-done t)
(setq org-agenda-skip-deadline-if-done t)

That fixed it, thanks! But it's strange that my system was, in fact, removing the DONE scheduled agenda items, even though `org-agenda-skip-scheduled-if-done` was `nil`. But in any case, problem solved, thanks again!

Glad it’s working!
I can’t answer why it was working the way it was. I’m far from an expert. I just poke my init file until it does what I want.

It turns out I was just confused. Most of my goals are repeated, which obviously vanished when I marked them done. Non-repeated goals, SCHEDULED and DEADLINE, both stuck around in the agenda when marked done, as expected.
