Should I make modes for Valve file formats?

I've been thinking about making some modes for Valve formats (keyvalues, schemas, and options); but I feel that they aren't going to get used.

If you鈥檇 use them and want to make them, I鈥檇 say go for it even if nobody else uses them! 馃槃

If they don't exist yet, just do it.

I 100% agree. A big part of the appeal of Emacs is making it work how *you* want, making it easier to do the things *you* want to do. If others get some benefit from that, that's great! But not required. Example, I wrote a nicely polished [mode for TL/1](https://github.com/ieure/tl1-mode), an proprietary programming language for obsolete test equipment. I'm almost positive that nobody else has used it, or has any reason to. But I do, and it's nice, and that's all I need.

I made modes for those when I worked there. I forget what modes I based them off of. I also have a "valve" c++ indent style in my .emacs :)

More people understanding how to make Emacs modes is good for Emacs and Emacs users. Go for it!
