Use Emacs forms-mode for data entry [https://lifeofpenguin.blogspot.com/2022/03/gnu-emacs-for-data-entry.html](https://lifeofpenguin.blogspot.com/2022/03/gnu-emacs-for-data-entry.html)

I feel offended by the contrast of this color theme.

I ran across [the `forms-mode` documentation](https://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/manual/html_mono/forms.html ) one day while scanning through the Info manual pages directory one day, and I thought, "that would be useful!", but unfortunately, I haven't actually had a use for it yet.
It is really cool though, you just need to declare a ["control format"](https://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/manual/html_mono/forms.html#Control-File-Format ), which is just a list of text and integers. The text (with properties, so you can set colors and fonts) is inserted into the buffer, the integers indicate which indices of a record input field should be inserted, which will be populated with the record data each time a record is displaed.
You can also specify a ["record filter"](https://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/manual/html_mono/forms.html#Modifying-Forms-Contents ) callback which can auto-update certain fields (useful for setting date/time values).
I wonder if you could you couple `forms-mode` with TRAMP's HTTP remote file handler to submit information to an HTTP server?

Now, if only it would support org mode tables...Alas, a man can only dream
