I have been switching to dired as a file manager and I wanted to send a file to someone. I see drag and drop only works for dropping a file onto emacs, and have not found a way to drop from dired to other windows. Is there a way to do this?

I have no solution, but I want a solution for this as well.
Either DnD or copy from dired / paste into X client would be huge.

Can't you use `!` (`dired-do-shell-command`) to send the file contents to a shell program of your choice? E.g. `! cat`.

I use the program [dragon](https://github.com/mwh/dragon) to solve such a problem.

Perhaps pipe the file into the clipboard with that shortcut. I already know there are programs to do this.
