Emacs workspace management with tab-bar mode

Cool! I've been wanting to try one tab per project (not quite what you're doing), but I haven't gotten the buffers to go to the right tab yet. When I switch buffers I want it to switch to that buffer's project tab. I was trying display-buffer-alist but didn't get very far, and put it on hold. The next time I attempt this I will try your approach.

I don't know if this is considered "workspace management" but using [`burly`](https://github.com/alphapapa/burly.el) to save windows layout and accessing it with `consult-buffer` with bookmarks narrowed has been effortless amazing.

This is what I've been doing, but I've been using persp-mode. I have a project that involves jumping between two separate projectile projects/ git repos (a react app and a custom CMS). I like how seemlessly it all works with magit and the buffer separation. I also have an org mode perspective that I use for my org files and mu4e. I don't bother with the terminals. I either use M-& or I just switch to a terminal workspace in I3 for anything invovled. I can either use a keybind to switch to an eshell or a keybind to switch to a full featured terminal emulator.

Does persp-mode restore your tabs?

When I open emacs? Not by default. Might be possible, but I don't turn emacs off enough that I really thought about it.

>When I switch buffers I want it to switch to that buffer's project tab Yes, that's what I'm doing with advising functions and switching tabs **before** switching buffers, otherwise it gets messy soon or I'd have to take care of it manually every time I switch buffers. Let me know if it works for you, if you ever try it.

You can call it whatever you want as long as it fulfills your needs. :) Burly looks interesting.
