Hi
I've just updated to 27.1 on Ubuntu 21.10, and I'm encountering some weird behaviour with "M-.'
Basically, it pops up a small "text bubble" where I can type a macro, which can get executed with enter. (See screenshot)
I cannot figure out which commando is bound to M-. so I can disable it. Describe-key does not seem to work and overwriting it does not seem to help either
My previous behavior was that M-. was bound to xref-find-definitions.

Does anyone know what could be wrong here?

This sounds like this keybinding is something, which is bound outside of Emacs. For example a keybinding of the window manager and Emacs never sees this keypres.

This seems to be a Gnome issue and not Emacs, as it is also happening in the launcher. If anyone knows what is wrong, please let me know, as I'm losing my mind.

What do you mean by "macro"? Emacs has two kinds of "macro" but that doesn't seem like either of them.

Sounds like a feature then, not a bug.
Find what that key sequence is bound to in Gnome and disable it.
The description seems similar-but-different to https://old.reddit.com/r/emacs/comments/rq37xs/emacs_29_keyboard_bug/

That was the solution, it was indeed a gnome "feature". Thanks for the help!

gsettings set org.freedesktop.ibus.panel.emoji hotkey "[]"
This will disable this hotkey.
