Where to buy Emacs t-shirt online with low delivery cost to EU?

balaurul · 2022-03-14 14:22
Emacs users from EU, where do you buy your Emacs gear? I wanted to order an Emacs t-shirt from FSF.org but the shipping cost of 16 USD for a t-shirt that costs 25 USD is quite high for me. Could please recommend me an online store where I can buy an Emacs t-shirt with low shipping cost? Thanks in advance!

I can totally recommend visiting a FOSS event where FSF usually sells shirts. If you want to get sure, look out for FSFE-talks on the schedule.

That's a good idea, thanks! But I don't see any info about such events on FSFE.org Is there another place to look for announcements of this kind?

That's a good question. I also wanted to buy the GNU Emacs Manual but when I saw that the shipping cost to Germany was 25USD I didn't continue.

On a related topic - I don't really care about the price but I didn't find any Emacs t-shirts that actually look good. Do you have any tips?

If there were other colours options than this green for the t shirt I'd swallow the shipping cost honestly
Hercislife23 · 2022-03-14 21:35
I would also love a link to Emacs shirts that aren't just a plane shirt with an Emacs logo on it.

Tried red bubble? https://www.redbubble.com/shop/emacs+shirt Not bought T-shirts but I was fairly happy with a tech sticker.

Totally agree with you.
balaurul · 2022-03-15 07:19
Hm,.. haven't thought about that. It would be great to have other color options, but even if I can get the t-shirt in my favorite color, the shipping price seems too high for me.

Did not try but will take a look. Thanks!

Have you ever considered screen printing your own? Also, in tourist areas, one-off t-shirt printers can often be found, though I’ve seen it go upwards to USD25+, depending on number of colors or fabric selection.

I don't have any tips unfortunately; I just want a t-shirt with Emacs logo that: - is not big, but rather elegantly small such that it does catch the eye but is not obnoxiously large to draw attention (slapping a big logo on a t-shirt makes it obnoxious for me), - is placed over the chest, *not* in the middle of the t-shirt making it cover both the chest and the abdomen, And it would be great if the t-shirt would be a dark color; however, the color is not that important as the overall aspect.

I don't have any experience with screen printing (frankly I had to do an Internet search to see what that means) but the suggestion to print a t-shirt at those tourist shops is great. Thank you!

Hobbyists can do this with a fairly small and basic amount of materials. For example, [do it yourself](https://www.wikihow.com/Screen-Print-at-Home)

Or have it printed by a specialized shop, not for tourists, but for small associations or companies. There are a number of those, both online and physical, and you can use reviews to compare the quality and durability
T_Verron · 2022-03-15 08:08
Essentially all you need is a good design, after that you can have it printed by a shop. You will also get to choose the size, position and color.

I just happened to find FSFE T-Shirts on the FOSS events I was joining such as [GLT](https://www.linuxtage.at/en/) or [CLT](https://chemnitzer.linux-tage.de/2022/en/). With GLT being a rather small event, I guess that FSF-T-Shirt booths are a common thing.

It seems that your comment contains 1 or more links that are hard to tap for mobile users. I will extend those so they're easier for our sausage fingers to click! > Essentially all you need is a good design Yes, indeed. I figure, if I can find something that fits into the criteria described above then it's worth paying the price (if the price seems reasonable of course); otherwise I'll try to print it in a shop.
FrostyX_cz · 2022-03-15 11:18
Looks like we found and disliked the same t-shirts :D > is placed over the chest, not in the middle of the t-shirt This is so spot-on, I was starting to think that I am the only one who cares.
balaurul · 2022-03-15 11:18
Cool! It seems that CLT even has a web shop but there is not t-shirt with Emacs https://shop.linux-tage.de/index.php/t-shirts.html

> I was starting to think that I am the only one who cares You're not alone, fellow Emacs user! :)
