I'm hoping for Emacs 28.1 to be part of Debian 13 Bookworm for around October 2023.

Emacs is the only XWayland package I use and Emacs 28 is supposed to have native Wayland support last I checked.

Unfortunately it looks like the version in the `28.0.92` tag nor the `emacs-28` branch in git include Wayland support. It's on master though.

I use it on wayland without xwayland. You just have to build it natively. I'm on arch linux https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/emacs-gcc-wayland-devel-bin

Letting everyone else do thorough testing is a feature, not a bug. Which I, as a Debian stable user, actually appreciate. If you want something newer, there are a range of options from backports, through Sid, all the way to building from source. inb4 'OK Boomer' I realize you are probably joking, I guess I am just tired of hearing this 'Debian is old' meme. Oh yes, and while we are at it, 'get off my lawn!' :p

I'm sorry if I made you feel I was joking. I have been on Debian Stable since 4 years now and there is nothing else I want than stability. In fact I'm now on Debian Oldstable because I am enjoying this stability and didn't upgrade to Debian 12 Bullseye. I have same opinion on Emacs and its stability. Since Debian 12 has Emacs 27.1, I plan to move Debian 13 and not rock my proverbial boat. So much about me, how's your day been so far?

I guess I read too much into your comment, lol. Cheers, mate! Some times I post for benefit of lurkers, too though. :)

That won't be Emacs 28 then.

Correct; the pgtk branch was merged to master subsequent to the emacs-28 branch being cut. It will be in Emacs 29.
