Enhanced my coding experience with svg-tag-mode

konrad1977 · 2022-03-13 15:56
I havent decided if I will use it or not, but its rather cool to have it in the editor. Have you done anything similiar? My config is here: [https://github.com/konrad1977/emacs](https://github.com/konrad1977/emacs) https://preview.redd.it/m03nk7wpa6n81.png?width=2980&format=png&auto=webp&s=714161ecd50c603b226d5c3186c65d6ac5aaae7c

This is amazing. Well done.
chrinto · 2022-03-13 17:42
Looks great, is it possible to create a minor mode of it?
mnp · 2022-03-13 17:51
Can someone explain the Nyan cat thing please? Is it just an icon in the modeline that takes up space?
konrad1977 · 2022-03-13 18:01
Position in buffer.
trae · 2022-03-13 18:07
That’s pretty.
mauguro_ · 2022-03-13 18:30
omg how?
Trout_Tickler · 2022-03-13 18:31
Translates percentage through the buffer into which frame of animation to use

Nyan Mode author here. It translates percentage through the buffer into the position of the cat, then sets a fixed amount of images to draw a rainbow, then a cat, then starfields, accordingly. Separately, the rainbow and the cat tiles can be animated - updated on a timer.
Trout_Tickler · 2022-03-13 20:08
Thanks for clarifying, I always assumed it was much simpler than that. Noted for future reference!
henrymazza · 2022-03-13 22:06
nice, what about the TODO, and the Git Blame and everything else?
SteamingBeer · 2022-03-13 23:08
Oh come on I really like neovim. But I am a sucker for this UI beauty
404cn · 2022-03-14 02:54
Can I just enable this in comment?
Hi_ItsPaul · 2022-03-14 02:58
One of us, one of us.
konrad1977 · 2022-03-14 05:49
I am really new to elisp, but maybe in the future.
konrad1977 · 2022-03-14 05:51
Yes, its all comments in the code but they all have a specific format. So its rather easy to adjust them to use svg-tag-mode instead.
cradlemann · 2022-03-14 09:25
How to make TODO for Go with format below like yours? // TODO: some text
konrad1977 · 2022-03-14 10:21
Is that the format for TODO in go?

Yes
DefiantAverage1 · 2022-03-14 11:05
I forked and extended it to also be an indicator of an unsaved buffer [https://imgur.com/a/YsHgQI5](https://imgur.com/a/YsHgQI5) (pale when buffer is unsaved) u/TeMPOraL_PL you want me to make a PR for this? (https://github.com/anonimitoraf/nyan-mode)
TeMPOraL_PL · 2022-03-14 11:43
That looks nice! Please do make a PR, I'll book some time later this month to go over it and other outstanding work on Nyan Mode.
konrad1977 · 2022-03-14 12:24
If its not already possible, would be great to have the % indicator on the left. Looks a bit odd to have in the right when you are at the beginning of the buffer.
Null-A · 2022-03-14 15:48
I volunteer you (?) , send me the repo when you're done, you're the best
TeMPOraL_PL · 2022-03-14 16:14
I"m not sure what you mean. What % indicator? Nyan-mode doesn't provide any numeric indicators.
konrad1977 · 2022-03-14 16:53
Sorry then it's doom-modeline.
hmelman · 2022-03-15 00:54
I've tried playing with this and it looks nice. But I find it makes Info look broken on occasion. I can't quite narrow it down. At first I thought it was from using `global-svg-tag-mode` but then I found it was the same if I just set it in `prog-mode-hook` (which `Info-mode` do *NOT* derive from). It's probably something else in my config but I was wondering if you saw anything similar?
gammarray · 2022-03-15 01:28
Very cool.
konrad1977 · 2022-03-15 14:22
Ive noticed that some faces broke it for me. I think you need both foreground and background color for it to work properly.
jsled · 2022-03-16 19:53
Sorry, nothing I can do will make reddit allow this comment / link. Please use a different service, or something.
konrad1977 · 2022-03-16 20:09
Deleted the comment, which services are allowed?
jsled · 2022-03-16 22:31
No idea. :/ It's something about reddit site-wide restrictions, I think. Every time I approved the link, it immediately went back to auto-removed. :( Honestly, for what I recall of the link's contents, just in-line it?
SteamingBeer · 2022-09-11 12:00
Update, been using emacs for 5 months now :D
