Is it possible to have an emacs setup for jupyter notebooks as good as VS Code?

Hi, I was a long time emacs user (5+ years), but left a few years ago at the start of my PhD, my main reason for abandoning was to move to VS code simply for easier use of jupyter notebooks. I need them to be easily sharable, so using ORG as a replacement isn't viable for me. Spell check, autocomplete and documentation are also very important to me. Does anyone have a good setup for editing Jupyter notebooks directly, without converting between formats in emacs? If so, could you share your workflow, I'd be very keen to get back into emacs. Thanks, AH

I haven't tried it yet, but this package by Augusto Stoffel was recently added to ELPA: [code-cells](https://elpa.gnu.org/packages/code-cells.html). Apparently you need to install ["jupytext"](https://jupytext.readthedocs.io/en/latest/) for it to correctly handle notebooks.

For your use case you can try [1]. It will connect to a running jupyter server and open notebook files there. [1] https://github.com/millejoh/emacs-ipython-notebook
