I recently started working in a environment (windows OS) where Anti Virus and Endpoint protections are in place. Now I don’t really want to live without using emacs, but I’m kind of concerned that I would trigger some AV when starting up or using emacs.
To my question:
If I only use the default config (no fancy packages, Melpa, Elpa and the like) would emacs do any network communications on its own as I start it?

Chances are that your AV will trigger when you start literally any program. Scanning the software you're running is what they tend to do. (And as a FYI, although your Emacs will almost certainly *not* be built `--with-native-compilation`, for future reference [that can have an impact with AV too](https://old.reddit.com/r/emacs/comments/sed9oy/native_compilation_vs_virus_scanners/).)

Ah right, it will probably false flag it anyways then. Thanks for the link!
