I'm writing a cv in org mode and I want to make a list of publications. The way my cv class works, I use description lists with a date and a description in org mode like this:
- 2018--2022 :: Job at company
which exports to:
\begin{description}
\item[2018--2022] Job at company
\end{description}
This is then formatted exactly how I like. I really don't want to massively change the way this works, because it took me a long time to get the class just right, I've tried a few approaches (e.g. tables and tabularx) and this was the best way overall (so far).
I want to be able to write this:
- [cite:@key_20]
- [cite:@otherkey_22]
and have it export like this (or equivalent):
\begin{description}
\item[2020] \cite{key_20}
\item[2022] \cite{otherkey_22}
\end{description}
where the dates in the square brackets for the `\item` macros are automatically pulled from the bib data associated with the relevant @key. (I realise `\cite` is probably not the best citation command to use here. I use biblatex so I'll probably pick something reasonable from that package. The point is the date thing).
How would anyone approach this? I've fiddled about a bit and can't find a way yet.
