Emacs Buddy repository to discover available mentors

AndreaSomePostfix · 2022-03-01 22:28
I wrote a little blog as a follow up about the Emacs Buddy initiative: [https://ag91.github.io/blog/2022/02/28/repository-to-find-your-emacs-buddy/](https://ag91.github.io/blog/2022/02/28/repository-to-find-your-emacs-buddy/) I also created a repository to display information about people who are available as buddies: [https://github.com/ag91/emacs-buddy](https://github.com/ag91/emacs-buddy) Crossing fingers we are going to share Emacs magic with more people this way :D

I think this is a great idea, I'll keep an eye on this. I am starting to put together a list of ideas for easy projects that can be done by beginners, I might reach out to you guys to see if there is any interest in helping people contribute to these ideas eventually.

Wow, this is an amazing idea — thank you for sharing. I'll very likely come on board at some point as a "buddy." As an aside, as far as I can tell, you're the contact point for everyone who wants to be paired with a buddy. At some point there should be a system so you aren't the bottleneck and won't be burdened by emails and requests :)

Definitely! I didn't get to that point yet, so I will think about it in a bit. I just don't want to plainly write the email addresses on the repo: if you have an idea for that, that would be great :D

Can I suggest adding at least one other maintainer to the GitHub project? I realise that means I should be volunteering, so if you haven't got someone else who springs to mind as your first choice, I guess I could.

Do you mean in case I am unresponsive? I like the idea it becomes a community effort :)

In case you are unavailable. I know you would not normally be unresponsive. Community effort does indeed seem like the way to go.
