Following up on my last post about dired-registers, here is a package I recently took over maintenance of. I fixed a bug that was preventing copy and pasting of entire directories recursively. That said, main development was from Hidaka Uchida a number of years back.

This is just a really minimalistic (same theme as dired-registers) implementation of a copy-paste interface like Ranger or Ranger.el (just much more minimal).

See Readme on github for more details.

If people find this useful I will post to melpa.

The README doesn't seem to say what it does - just what you mean by cutting, copying, and pasting files and dirs.
----
FWIW:
* Dired lets you copy file and directory *names* (with `w`).
* [Dired+](https://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/DiredPlus) has this command to paste (add) files whose names you've copied into a Dired buffer, which is bound to `C-y` in Dired - dunno whether it does something similar to what your library offers:
> `diredp-yank-files` is an interactive compiled Lisp function in
[`dired+.el`](https://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/download/dired%2b.el).
>
> `(diredp-yank-files &optional DIR NO-CONFIRM-P DETAILS)`
>
> Yank (paste) files to the current directory.
>
> With a non-negative prefix arg you are instead prompted for the target
directory.
>
> With a non-positive prefix arg you can see details about the files if
you hit `l` when prompted to confirm pasting. Otherwise you see only
the file names. The details you see are defined by option
`diredp-list-file-attributes`.
>
> The absolute names of the files to be yanked are taken from the
clipboard or, if that's empty, from names you've copied to the kill
ring using `w` (`dired-copy-filename-as-kill`), `M-0 w` (`diredp-copy-abs-filenames-as-kill`), or `M-+ M-w` (`diredp-copy-filename-as-kill-recursive`).
>
> Those copy-filename commands also:
> * Use the value of option `diredp-filename-separator` to separate the copied file names.
> * Set variable `diredp-last-copied-filenames` to the same string.
`diredp-yank-files` uses the value of that variable, not whatever
is currently at the head of the kill ring.
The commands for copying are listed there: `w` (`dired-copy-filename-as-kill`), `M-0 w` (`diredp-copy-abs-filenames-as-kill`), and `M-+ M-w` (`diredp-copy-filename-as-kill-recursive`).
