Another tool for computational biologists: Introducing biomodels.el

jalihal · 2022-02-27 19:28
I've written a preliminary interface to the Biomodels database, which I am calling biomodels.el. It is meant to help search and present biomodel objects, which can potentially be expanded to simulating the dynamical models. Respository: https://github.com/amoghpj/biomodels.el Description: https://amoghpj.github.io/2022/02/27/biomodels.html Feedback welcome!

Pretty cool to see Emacs adapted for biology! Make me wish to learn more about that :D Great job!

It recently struck me that there is a lot of scope to build emacs interfaces to a lot of biological databases out there. I'm hoping that someone more skilled at elisp than me will find something like this useful/interesting, and will be inspired to make more polished biology-oriented packages!

Definitely good thinking! If you need help at learning more about Elisp, maybe this may interest you: [https://github.com/ag91/emacs-buddy](https://github.com/ag91/emacs-buddy) Crossing fingers that your example will inspire others!

Ah, didn't realize you started the buddy system. I think that's a great idea, and I might reach out for some help in structuring a bigger project that I have in mind!
