how do you use graphical and colored icons instead of monochrome?
yep808 · 2022-02-23 19:35
Here's the config I have. It might also depend on the theme you're using (I'm using doom-palenight in this screenshot):
```
(use-package all-the-icons
:if (display-graphic-p)
:config
(setq all-the-icons-scale-factor 0.8))
(use-package all-the-icons-ivy-rich
:after counsel-projectile
:init (all-the-icons-ivy-rich-mode +1)
:config
(setq all-the-icons-ivy-rich-icon-size 0.8))
(use-package ivy-rich
:after all-the-icons-ivy-rich
:init (ivy-rich-mode +1))
```

It is beautiful... But it makes TRAMP unusable
shosseinib · 2022-02-23 20:00
Thanks!
HuskyElkton6135 · 2022-02-23 23:33
This whole setup is amazing. Do you have a link to your dotfiles?
ytze · 2022-02-24 00:38
Thx for sharing dude.
sunnyata · 2022-02-24 00:57
When did Emacs users become so concerned about eye candy? Yeah I know, long time since.

>All-the-icons-ivy-rich
The package I showed in the screenshot is actually this one though: https://github.com/seagle0128/all-the-icons-ivy-rich
trae · 2022-02-24 01:29
Fancy. Any way to make it work with helm?
_viz_ · 2022-02-24 02:12
Maybe related, maybe not: do the icons actually help tho? It is visual clutter for me so I would like to know how it helps other people. (I also don't understand how some terminal users go to great lengths just for eye-candy, but that's another topic.)
pras29gb · 2022-02-24 02:15
u/yep808 good setup and I copied some from yours :-) ... BTW any specific reason to use neotree instead of treemacs. It looks like un-maintained for a while now
XavierEduardo99 · 2022-02-24 02:29
That side panel isn't neotree... Or is it?
yep808 · 2022-02-24 02:30
It is neotree, with some configuration.
cotste · 2022-02-24 03:12
Are you using VcXsrv in WSL or a different X server. Asking because I think my company will be forcing me back into Windows soon and I want a stable setup.
jimehgeek · 2022-02-24 03:21
As I don’t use ivy, this is what I was hoping to find in the comments :)
yep808 · 2022-02-24 04:16
Actually, I don't have a specific reason. I started out using neotree and it's always worked fine so I just stuck with it :-)
yep808 · 2022-02-24 04:16
>VcXsrv
Yup, VcXsrv definitely the best (and free) solution I've come across
RichieHHam · 2022-02-24 04:54
And why I like the completing-read solutions. There's some great innovations now.
Drishal · 2022-02-24 05:16
Wow your Emacs rice seems nice....but windblows?
yep808 · 2022-02-24 06:06
>windblows
I don't get it?
yep808 · 2022-02-24 06:07
>so I would like to know how it helps other people.
Kinda like decorating your room, I guess. Since I'm spending so much time in Emacs anyways.
KeikenHate · 2022-02-24 07:30
Nice one! Thanx for this!
_viz_ · 2022-02-24 08:31
That analogy finally makes things clear. I wasnt ever the person who cared about aesthetics of his room as long as it was relatively clean.
StoffePro · 2022-02-24 09:25
Tell me more.
trae · 2022-02-24 15:47
Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by this?
AsterOps · 2022-02-28 19:54
this package significantly decrease my emacs performance
