I suppose the answer depends, at the very least, on which of the two LSP clients you are using.

Company is setup to use `flex` completion style with lsp-mode. You could switch to corfu and use orderless/basic/substring/whatever you want for a completion style, which would pre-trim this list to a more manageable set. I personally have orderless pass everything on its first term, then switch to standard filtering on subsequent filter components.

Did you make any progress on that? I am also finding this quite annoying.
