Getting SLIME to not show the REPL every time

avindroth · 2022-02-13 22:04
As in title. I do not use the REPL all that much (just in-line evaluations of S-expressions usually). How do I stop `slime-connect` to show the REPL every time?

Note: I'm a `sly` user (not `slime`) and I only answer because no one else did. There are at least two ways to achieve that and it is rather easy to do that. First option: you could modify the `display-buffer-alist` varible to trick `sly` (`slime`) into thinking that the buffer has been displayed. (defun foo (&rest _) t) (add-to-list 'display-buffer-alist '("\\*sly-mrepl " (foo))) (you need to change above regex to match `slime`'s repl buffer name!) Second option: You could use `edebug` to anallyse `slime-connect` in order to find the call to `display-buffer` (or similar) and modify that call or `advice` the calling function.
