Pretty rendering of paragraphs with org-view mode
arthurno1 · 2022-02-07 18:00
[My attempt at pretty rendering paragraphs in org-mode](https://postimg.cc/hQJr1mvz): aligned vertically to left, right, middle and displayed with custom fonts.
I have been hacking last weekend on my org-view mode. It can now prettify quotes, verses and centered paragraphs by applying alignment and custom faces to quotes, verses and if specified author names of those.
Org-view should now also work in older versions than the current master :).
At this time only available from [the GitHub repository](https://github.com/amno1/org-view-mode).

Interesting project. Curious: does it display inline images?
agumonkey · 2022-02-07 18:57
at which point org-mode will switch from #_BEGIN_<X> to <x> and then html5 ?

Thanks.
Inline images are done by org-mode already. C-c C-x C-v is the default to toggle display of inline images I think, so yes, it works OOTB so to say.

Ooh - Nice!

The paragraph looks good. Thank's for sharing. Also, its the first time I see Emacs with Qt.

Thanks, and you are welcome.

Ah sorry, I hope I don't make you disappointed here, but there is no Qt there anywhere :). The Emacs build is just the vanilla build from the current master branch with Gtk running on Arch Linux, started with -Q option (no user init file). It displays org-mode (major mode) with my org-view-mode, which is just a small minor mode on top of org-mode.

Well that looks like Qt to me. So Gtk looks like Qt now, ok. Good to know.

I would appreciate this being a package. Very cool.

Thanks. When I am done with all the features I have in mind and some more testing, I plan to submit it to Melpa at least, but it's not there yet.

Looks great, is this constrained to read-only mode? It would be nice to have pretty documents while editing, if it's feasible.
arthurno1 · 2022-02-09 06:36
Thanks. Yes, it is read only. It could be sort of difficult to edit text that becomes invisible as one types it :-). Without GUI tools like buttons and commands similar to a WYSIWYG application, I don't think it is feasible.
I am currently implementing a "quick edit" mode, where read-only flag will be inhibited for main text only, to make short edits, like fix typos, add a word or two and such. But for editing markup and org structure, you will still have to switch into normal org-mode.
