It's not the best option, but you can use emacs in Termux

How would that even work? I tried to use vim on my phone once just for laughs, and it was horrible.
I guess there are some hybrid tablet-with-a-keyboard thingies that run Android? Those could probably use an emacs port. How large is the intersection between people who own one of those and people who use emacs?

it works fairly well in Termux. Google keyboard has a full qwerty layout as found on PC, and termux itself provides virtual ctrl, meta, shift, esc, tab, and arrow keys. Maybe half of things I have on my github profile are written almost entirely on phone during subway rides, so I know what I'm saying :) It's of course not the most comfortable way of using it, but it works.

I don't think much is needed outside of termux tbh. Not sure what benefits could come from an emacs app outside of it. Although one thing I'm working on at the moment is using clomacs to try to make personal webapps (setting up gatsby rn) to help interact with emacs from other devices. You might find that interesting https://github.com/clojure-emacs/clomacs

it's not the best option, but it's pretty darn close!

I stopped wrestling with termux + emacs after I realized the things that I actually needed on mobile could just be boiled down to:
\- journal writing
\- read and write quick notes in a org file
That functionality I realized could just be recreated with Tasker or Automate which is what I ended up doing

My needs in a mobile text editor boil down to one thing: Friggin cut and paste.
If I need to carve 100K out of the middle of a text file, I am not scrolling until my finger wears off. And god help me if I need to do a search for the other end of the cut.
Several otherwise tolerable apps (including Doogle Gocs) are rendered toys by this failing. Did Stallman in a fit of perversity patent the concept of the Mark?
If I have been missing something obvious for the last 15 years, I would *love* someone to post a reply saying, "You doofus, even my grandmother knows that you can select all of chapter three of Das Capital by simply foo bar baz. How would it even be possible for the world's dominant text editing platform to provide no way of editing text?"
And if you do, I will cut off my dick and wear it around my neck to demonstrate my utter cuckliness. And I will still consider that a fair trade to be able to use this little box for something other than the thing that I obviously will no longer need it to do.
Side whine: I would repeat the entire above rant for the case of the NP-Hard feature of text undo. I know that many scientists have sacrificed their lives to the study of high energy text buffering and I do not disparage them. However, in this case I have unearthed a solution. I installed a backdoor keylogger on my phone which I can consult in the (insanely not all that rare) case that an editor crashes due to ennui or stealth selects my cure for cancer allowing the next keypress to vaporize it or just drops my text on the floor for the sake of art or the battery commits suicide to protect nonvolatile storage from my execrable prose or Keep does what it does best and erases random notes and then instantly propagates the update to every backup copy in the multiverse. That's right, at the trivial cost of entirely compromising the security of my device, I gained the bizarre ability to not have to retype my reddit posts. Would you believe it happened while I was typing this?
