I created a new dark theme

konrad1977 · 2022-02-06 09:34
I created a new dark theme based on Kanagawa colors. ([https://github.com/rebelot/kanagawa.nvim](https://github.com/rebelot/kanagawa.nvim)) The cat image is from my previous theme based on Catppuccin. ***Warning***: Dont use the theme if you run emacs in 256 colors. This theme only works for 0xFFFFFF color space for now. [dashboard.el](https://preview.redd.it/bpsn0dj3m6g81.png?width=3584&format=png&auto=webp&s=e60cb52f4180bcfda919124cee5d3bdd63624761) [Pretty Hydra](https://preview.redd.it/6ifr2fj3m6g81.png?width=3584&format=png&auto=webp&s=49dedbb8f91969fa10bc85a2847b08c2688125b3) If you want to give it a try: here it is in themes folder. You need to have the ***autothemer*** package installed. [https://github.com/konrad1977/emacs](https://github.com/konrad1977/emacs)

Thats looks nice I'll try
konrad1977 · 2022-02-06 12:36
Let me know if it worked/didnt work. Its WIP so there might be bugs that I need to ironing out.
EasterEggie · 2022-02-06 16:52
it's really good, my only issue is with `centaur-tabs` integration, but for now it's the best non-doom theme that I've used so far
konrad1977 · 2022-02-06 17:43
Thanks for the kind words. I updated both themes to support centaur-tabs. Give it a try!

and one more thing, why don't you put your theme(s) in a separate directory and when you feel that the theme is ready, publish them on `MELPA`?
Starlight100 · 2022-02-07 00:18
> why don't you put your theme(s) in a separate directory Not to speak for OP, but that would expand the load path for themes. It will likely be slower to load a theme when each lives in a dedicated folder. Although most people use the package manager to install themes, so the load path is extremely expanded anyway making it a moot point. I believe the MELPA formula allows you to specify select files in a repo. So it doesn't necessarily need a dedicated folder to be on MELPA.
EasterEggie · 2022-02-07 00:41
sorry, I meant repository, not directory, because cloning OP's entire config only to get the theme is pointless, of course I can copy and paste the theme to a file in my PC, but I want to contribute to the theme and managing it in this way is kinda hard
konrad1977 · 2022-02-07 06:13
I will look into that. Publishing on melpa makes sense.
Brax8888 · 2022-02-07 19:48
This is a sweet theme, how is its compatibility with a doom emacs config, and would you consider trying to get it added to [Doom themes](https://github.com/doomemacs/themes)? I may try this out though. No pressure on that btw, it's just a curiosity for me.

Wow!! Just say wow! Thanks for making these awesome themes.
guitmz · 2022-02-10 15:51
nice! will test it :)
AlteredPrime · 2022-03-13 05:06
I could definitely roll this. I really like the off-white color. It ties in the whole palette.
MusclePig · 2022-04-01 12:00
The Kanagawa theme is SO beautiful. Thank you for making it for emacs. Ahem... however... Any chance you could make a short guide on how to use it for those of us just getting started with Emacs? :)
konrad1977 · 2022-04-02 09:24
Thanks! Best thing would be to put in Melpa. I dont know how to do that yet though.
FlogThePhilanthropst · 2022-08-10 17:01
Gonna drop in 6 months later and say I *love* this theme. Thank you for making it!

Hi autothemer maintainer here, I'd like to help you get these packaged up and on MELPA.
konrad1977 · 2022-08-29 05:29
Yes please. Would be great.
ocodo · 2022-08-29 13:09
Ok, I've made a repo for each one and transferred ownership to you. Let's continue the conversation as issues on each theme, will need to add README, LICENSE, CONTRIBUTING, splash image, screenshots, palette images. etc ... Then they'll be fit to push to MELPA. First I think you need to check Github and accept the ownership of the repos. Right now they live at: - https://github.com/jasonm23/emacs-theme-amarena - https://github.com/jasonm23/emacs-theme-kanagawa - https://github.com/jasonm23/emacs-theme-catpuccin They have a rudimentary README and all have a splash image of some sort... how fitting they are is your call.
konrad1977 · 2022-08-29 13:38
Wow thanks. Ill have a check. Unfortunately I probably have to wait until Sunday.
ocodo · 2022-08-29 15:07
No worries. I'll be around.
konrad1977 · 2022-09-01 16:57
I think you need to do the transfer again.

The transfer didn't expire on my end. Go look at your Github notifications, I expect you'll see the transfer requests in there.
