Hi,
I have compiled and installed Emacs 28 pgtk.
When I start Emacs it changes the background color three times.
First it starts gray, then it turns white and then finally my theme color, which is a dark gray (from Nord color palette).
My previous version, Emacs 27, honored the .Xresources and would start with the same color of my theme.
I have tried running 'xrdb -merge .Xresources' before running Emacs. It did not help.
I am running Emacs inside i3wm, which uses xorg. Everything else runs fine.
Is it possible that Emacs-pgtk does not honor the .Xresources anymore?
Do you think it is a bug?

Pgtk is meant for Wayland not X11. You might be running under Wayland natively as designed. No X11 anymore.

I should have stated that in the post. I am running Emacs inside the i3wm, which relies on xorg. Since it Emacs compiled with --with-pgtk option runs under xorg I expected it to be backwards compatible. My guess was wrong apparently.

You can use an env variable to force Emacs to run under X11. I tried that before. Can not thing of it on top of my head. Google either Emacs or gtk

Yes, it honor gtk settings only now. All x related code was replaced to gtk analogues. So you need to configure either GTK theme or emacs theme.

I used "GDK_BACKEND=x11" to force emacs to run under X11.
