Newbie issue. emacs-mac no longer responds to C-a.

EDIT: A reboot fixed this issue. I'm very new to MacOS (Big Sur 11.6) and emacs-mac (installed about a week ago with homebrew). I'm working through the standard emacs tutorial. In fact, I've been practicing the tutorial from the start each day for about 5 days now (making my way a bit further each time). `C-a` used to work just fine, but now, it doesn't even seem to send a key. So for example: `C-h k C-a C-e` It doesn't respond to the `C-a` and it gives me the Help page for `C-e`. All other basic commands that I tried does work. It's doing this in both GUI and terminal emacs. EDIT: But interestingly enough, when I do C-a within this reddit-reply edit box on Chrome, it takes me to the beginning of the line. (Actually, to the beginning of the current paragraph.) So the system is recognizing the sequence within Chrome at least.

From a terminal, run \`cat\`. Then type C-a C-c. Do you get \`\^A\^C\` in the terminal output? Then run \`emacs -q -nw\`. Can you do C-a there?

When you press C-a, what do you see in minibuffer? Do you run it in GUI or terminal? Do you have a nonstandard or non-English keyboard layout active?

Below I do `cat C-a C-c` followed by `cat C-e C-c` Last login: Mon Jan 31 13:17:59 on console TooflessSnek@MacBook-Air ~ % cat ^C TooflessSnek@MacBook-Air ~ % cat ^E^C So it's not sending it in terminal. Then I tried `emacs -q -nw`and no, it doesn't work there. It seems to be disabled at the OS level? But interestingly enough, when I do `C-a` within this reddit-reply edit box on Chrome, it takes me to the beginning of the line. (Actually, to the beginning of the current paragraph.) So the system is recognizing the sequence within Chrome at least.

> When you press C-a, what do you see in minibuffer? Nothing. It's as if I haven't pressed anything. If I press `C-h k C-a C-e` it gives me the Help page for `C-e`. > Do you run it in GUI or terminal? Do you have a nonstandard or non-English keyboard layout active? I've run it both ways now (see other reply). It doesn't work in either. I have a standard English keyboard layout.

Interesting. I am also on 11.6, but don't have that problem. I'm not sure what could be intercepting it.
