Victor Mono italic is definitely interesting! On my system (macos) I was able to get Victor Mono italic :height 0.9 to match Iosevka Fixed :height 16 so I can use those two together. I'm not yet ready to use it for all italic text but I'm going to try it in a few places and see. Thank you!

I like this, my problem though is that after I restart emacs, I have to manually reload again to see the italics. Any idea on this?

The `unicode` part of the fontset setup doesn't sound like a good idea, because the Inconsolata font covers very few blocks of non-ASCII characters, basically just Latin and Greek. Caveat emptor!

You should do a setup dedicated to us shlubs that are constrained to live in a 256 color terminal with one font :(
Nicolas-Rougier · 2022-02-01 20:27
All the glyphs have the same size such that it is theoretically possible to have the same in the terminal if you can specify when to use this or that font.

I use nano-theme, nano-modeline of your design and have enabled a proportional font for my writings in org. Will nano font stack have a defined proportional font?
Nicolas-Rougier · 2022-02-01 21:35
Not yet, I need to do some experiments first.

I don't think I've ever seen a terminal that lets you switch fonts character by character. _maybe_ a separate font for bold. In general I can change color (within reason), bold, and underline and that's about it.
Straight_Doubt2866 · 2022-02-02 01:14
Is it really uncommon for terminals to support italics? I know Alacritty supports them, since that's what I use, but I doubt it's the only one.
pailanderCO · 2022-02-02 01:55
Why not use Victor's non italic fonts as well? They're pretty nice. Why mixed it up with Roboto?
rzetterberg · 2022-02-02 08:22
TIL: - That you can specify more than one font with `set-face-attribute` - The `font-line` utility Thanks for that :) Also, my cat Nano says hi
tmting · 2022-02-02 10:33
I believe, based on what he says in the org document, it's because he wants the italic font to stand out more in relation to the default font.
pailanderCO · 2022-02-02 11:59
Fair enough. I like very much Victor's italic font, but I don't see so much of a contrast between its "roman" and the Roboto one.
shishkabeb · 2022-02-02 15:29
how did you make that text box and lines in org?
Nicolas-Rougier · 2022-02-02 18:10
Using unicode box draxing glyphs (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Box_Drawing) See also [org file](https://gist.github.com/rougier/b15fb6e98fadb6580958b1733659027b)
shishkabeb · 2022-02-02 18:18
oh of course.. looks damn good though.
holgerschurig · 2022-02-05 16:15
This is not criticism, but personal taste: too me the italics font looks ugly a d out of place. Sure, it stands out like that. But so would a green alien with 29 tentacles do in the city center of Paris, too.

Kitty!
gct · 2022-03-26 16:54
Does it let you eg: send a control sequence before a letter to change its font? Looking at the config it just lets you pre-configure bold/italic/etc + unicode ranges to specific fonts
