Is there any package to generate tree-structured lists?

I'm looking for something that transforms something like this: * foo ** bar *** foobar into this: foo └── bar └── fooobar Something like the Ascii Tree Generator extension (https://github.com/aprilandjan/vscode-ascii-tree-generator). I found some packages like `syntree` and `graph.el`, but I'm looking for something that could work based on a simplified structure, like an org list. Thanks.

hierarchy.el which is built in as of some recent emacs version

If you're using org-mode it might be possible to just modify orgs indentation/character use.. it'd be kinda cool.

I'd suggest being more specific about your use case, because what you showed can be accomplished by a simple regexp search/replace.

I think this can help to create what I'm looking for, but I'm not sure how yet. Thanks for the suggestion.

But is it possible to set different characters based on the item having a child/parent in more complex hierarchies? Do you know which option I should look for? Thanks!

I think there isn't much to it, it's just a way to display a "prettified" hierarchy, like a tree. Do you think it would be a simple regexp to check if each item has a parent/child and replace with the appropriate symbol? Thanks!

I do not, but I hope to spend some time looking into it, I think your idea looks neat.
