Wrong version of node in `exec-path`

bigpotatopieguy · 2022-01-24 20:58
I use `nvm` to manage node versions. When I inspect `exec-path`, it contains a version of node that I no longer have installed, i.e. `~/.nvm/versions/node/v17.3.0/bin` is in my `exec-path`, but I only have the most recent stable and lts versions installed (v17.4 and v.16.3.2, respectively). So, two questions: 1 - Naturally, how can I fix this? I've tried using `(setenv NODE_PATH ...)`, but that didn't work. I tried `(setq exec-path (append exec-path (file-name-directory (shell-command-to-string "which node"))))` but that didn't do the trick either. 2 - How might this have happened, so I can stop it from happening again in the future? Thanks very much.
