The state of smartparens has been a concern of mine for a while I will try this out to see if it might make a good alternative.

This looks very promising. I’m definitely gonna give it a try :)

By "state of smartparens" do you mean what is in the puni readme? As one who hasn't needed to alter HTML or the like (typical lisps, org-mode, text), can't say I've hit any bugs in smartparens but I'm always up for some further yak shaving.

Please let us know when this will be on Melpa! :)

Author here ;) It is on Melpa. I just forget to mention that in README.

Thank you! GOnna try it out!

> It takes a different approach than Puni: instead of making use of Emacs built-in mechanisms, it creates its own extensible machine for parsing pairs, and extends it for many languages. The result: It's around 10k lines of code, while Puni is around 2k lines.
Yes, that is unfortunate with many 3rd party packages, they don't try to fix broken/buggy things in Emacs or extends the built-in functionality, but re-invent the wheel from the beginning.
Puni looks interesting.

I use web mode for html, erb, slim and jinja files. The issues have been creeping up and I was trying to solve them using tree sitter, objed mode bindings and the like.

I looked at the authors other repos and found they have a package [clue](https://github.com/AmaiKinono/clue) for taking notes on source code. Im gonna try it out.

Ooh the slurping & barfing in html got me!

Wierd name, even if I get the idea behind it. Would you be interested in adding the pacakge to {GNU,NonGNU} ELPA?

Interesting! Added it to my growing [list of Emacs structural editing modes](https://www.reddit.com/r/emacs/comments/r0i031/comment/hlxwhyu/) :)
I like that it prefers to keep the code small and use builtin functions. Considering the possible upcoming builtin tree-sitter support for emacs, would it be possible to use tree-sitter functions for puni?
