How about setting up Emacs for rust development?

Mycroft-l · 2022-01-23 18:12
Hi! I am new at Emacs and I want to use it for Rust development,as the title says, but I'm actually confused with so many options, I read a bit about rustic and it seems very cool, actually I use vscodium for rust because of the extensions that I need and some features (code completion, inline docs and type showing), after that I also want to freeze the package versions for some personal reasons =) I just want those features that I already have in the vscodium, i love Emacs and the way that it's extensible! (sorry ,English is not my mother tongue). Thank you guys!

Can you show me how to set up this correctly? Btw does rustic works (with all its feature) in doom?

rustic + lsp-mode + [lsp-ui](https://github.com/emacs-lsp/lsp-ui) leads to a pretty slick IDE-like experience for Rust. All of these should work pretty okay out of the box!

I use rust-analyzer with eglot. ``` ;; For Rust. (straight-use-package 'rust-mode) (add-to-list 'eglot-server-programs '((rust-mode) . ("rust-analyzer"))) (add-hook 'rust-mode-hook 'eglot-ensure) ;; Go colorful with Tree-sitter. (straight-use-package 'tree-sitter) (straight-use-package 'tree-sitter-langs) (global-tree-sitter-mode)  (add-hook 'tree-sitter-after-on-hook #'tree-sitter-hl-mode) ``` Tree sitter makes code look good. Well, it's totally optional.

Just to note Doom has just recently reclaimed its Master branch. Develop will no longer receive commits
