Surge in odd coincidences?
Yamaoto Toshi · 2018-03-04 16:34
Can someone relate to what I've been experiencing constantly for many months now? This isn't exactly about dreams but I don't know where else this would fit, so I'm sorry if this is the wrong board.
These past few months I've noticed a large uptick in extremely strange coincidences, it began around December of last year. Either it's a series of strange incidents occurring in succession to the point where the chances of those events coinciding should be 1 in a million, or less frequently, I sense some event happening with no prior indication just a few seconds before it actually happens. The latter phenomenon, where I "sense" something happening, can also be a sign that some strange unrelated thing is about to happen as well, after the thing I could feel coming. I've generally noticed that subjective thoughts or slight hallucinations can directly influence the physical world around me. I will write down some of these cases that have occurred in as much detail as possible. To be honest, it's something else than just "coincidences", I don't know what the fuarrrk I'm dealing with. Synchronicity perhaps?
Also, I know this looks like insane schizoposting, I'm sure that this must be psychosis or something. But then again, there are clear real world results. I don't know what to think anymore.

2017 12 10
At around 2 in the morning I saw a moth on my wall. Upon seeing it, I reached for a paper towel and swatted it. There's still a dusty stain on my wall. A day earlier (2017 12 09) I thought to myself that I hadn't seen a moth in a long long time, and suddenly one day after that a moth did indeed appear.
Now, for context, I have a custom app on my phone that isn't the default YouTube app, it allows you to look at a video's page before playing the actual video, it just shows a STILL thumbnail at the video's place until you either start it or press "play audio in background". Those two functions have separate buttons - this is important.
After swatting the moth I went to bed, but stayed on my phone instead. Sometimes I listen to random ASMR videos to help me get into a relaxed mood before falling asleep, and I was picking out a video just for that. I clicked on some thottie's video, on the thumbnail she had a white coffee cup in front of her, and her gaze was directed towards the camera. I pressed the "play audio in background" button, blinked my eyes, and I saw the video moving. She had put her hand inside the cup, her fingernails were clinking against the porcelain, I saw her fingers move. But her face was horrifying, she had directed her "gaze" away from me and onto the cup. "Gaze", because her eyes were gone. Her eyes had been replaced by bottomless black holes, she no longer had eyes to look with. But regardless, I still somehow felt that her gaze had been directed towards the cup and not me. This entire incident lasted for about half a second and I was confused during it, but after that brief time period her face was back to normal with the image being still.
I went on my phone to whine about what I had just experienced on some occult chat server I had joined a few months ago out of curiosity, before this I hadn't really lurked or posted anything there. Then, my friend sent me something on Snapchat (I have it installed only because I have no other way of staying in touch with the 2-4 people I talk with there, I'd rather not use it.) It was an image of a shrine dedicated to some Egyptian god I don't know the name of. The image arrived immediately after the previous incident. How the fuarrrk did he know to send that image just after the extremely realistic hallucination I had experienced half a minute ago? Upon seeing it I could feel my cheeks turn hot, and I could feel tears forming in my eyes out of sheer terror. I asked him why he had that picture, and he answered that it was simply some fortune teller's room at a mall.
Surprisingly I still managed to fall asleep after all that. I dreamt that my old classmates from middle-junior high school were bullying me with some airhead teacher, the teacher seemed like a combination of two particular extremely stereotypical dumb teachers who were deeply engrossed in the normal user party culture I despise so much.
Picture related, I immediately screencapped the image he sent me. This happened in real life, the message was not some subjective hallucination.

I already wrote this out for some other thread the day after it happened, so it's a greentext.
2017 12 28
>Trying to get some sleep in my bed, around 9PM. My sleep is all over the place and I was feeling tired but as soon as I got into bed I was energetic.
>Just lay down, eyes closed, waiting for my sleep. The only source of light in my room was a candle that I lit 2 hours ago.
>10 minutes into this, not feeling sleepy in the slightest, I see a vivid still image of a cow looking at me for a split second. Startled, I open my eyes.
>I see light getting dimmer and dimmer in my room, and I realize the candle stopped burning. Just after seeing that hallucination the candle physically reacted.
>Becoming slightly spooked now, but I close my eyes once again, this surely must be a coincidence right? I keep my eyes closed for another 10 minutes or so, fully awake, not drowsy.
>Suddenly I feel an extremely realistic touch between my eyes. It felt like an actual fingertip gently applying pressure between my eyebrows. I let it stay for 10 seconds, but the sensation just grew more intense so I opened my eyes again. This is the first time in my life I've hallucinated touch.
>Started messaging a friend on my phone, told him what was happening and how spooked I was. We always use each other as blogs, as friends do.
>Finished telling him everything, put my phone to sleep. Now I'm just laying in my bed eyes open, too chicken soykaf to close them.
>Start involuntarily hearing a bitcrush audio effect in my ears. It was like a separate sound. After 30 seconds of this, it starts getting louder and louder, then stops.
>Two seconds after the noise stopped, my phone's screen lit up. It was a different friend messaging me. Feeling extremely uneasy at this point.
>It's just a snap of that Vice Snapchat story. Something to do with queers or HIV or multiracial soykaf, I'm sure you know how ridiculous those Vice stories are.
>Tell this other friend what's been happening, from the cow hallucination incident to the bitcrush effect incident.
>He confesses that he once heard a loud bell noise in his head as he was napping outside. He got up and left, and 30 seconds later a physical object struck his napping spot. He dodged death. I don't want to explain more because of possible dox.
>I ask him if he has played Doki Doki Literature Club at all. I felt like some Monika like entity is fuarrrking with me. It's ridiculous but I wanted to talk about it.
>5 minutes later he sends me a PM on Discord (out of necessity again, I'd rather not use that dataminer but it's not like every single person will switch just because I tell them to.)
>Opening my Snapchat message made his phone crash and his phone got stuck in a boot loop. Pic related.
>I tear up out of fear, confusion and anxiety. I was absolutely fuarrrking TERRIFIED. I ruined his phone because I mentioned DDLC and wanted to talk about the parallels I see.
>After a while his phone recovers somehow, but then I broke his electric breaker. Pic related
>Fell asleep in extreme fear, woke up and now I'm typing this out for the second time.

I'll skip some incidents now and write down what's happening to me in the present, and this in my opinion is the most horrifying - I think I killed a person, or two people even depending how far I want to reach.
2018 03 02 - 2018 03 04
Some context: during the day I had briefly looked at my wallpaper folder and found this nice Lain wallpaper that simply had those power lines with a grey sky in the background, I looked at it for a few minutes but decided against using it for some reason and went on with my day.
In the past few months I've started listening to ambient noise while falling asleep, stuff like 12 hours of brown/pink/white noise, 8 hours of pure binaural beats and so on. There's this one channel that has a fuarrrk ton of these, some videos have thousands of views while some have just a few hundred. I decide to mindlessly scroll through this guy's videos at around 1AM, just seeing what he has to offer. As I scroll I think to myself "Hmm, what if I took the power line noise from Serial Experiments Lain and extended it myself? That'd be a cool experiment."
Five seconds after thinking that I see: "6 Hours of Powerline Noise from Serial Experiments Lain". I didn't know what to think, I was bemused, I started chuckling by myself at 1AM in my dark room as I stared at the video. How could my gut predict this exact thing with no prior knowledge? 30 seconds passed, and the exact same guy who sent me that Egyptian shrine months ago sent me a message. "Oh god, it's happening again" I thought. My friend just replied "hero" at something I sent him a few hours earlier, I don't even remember what I sent him. I explained to him what had just happened, and he found it extremely odd that yesterday he had saved some Lain concept art he had found online. He even said "Haha, funny we're talking about Lain now!"
Whatever the fuarrrk was going on, I concluded that this must be a sign from the universe or something like a message that I should fall asleep to this power line noise. So I did just that, I played that audio in the background in my earphones as I fell asleep. What's the worst that could happen?
When I woke up I had had a wet dream, I don't remember seeing anything sexual, only innocent things, but I had come in my sleep somehow. I thought it was weird but nothing supernatural and I haven't put much thought into it after that. Inconvenienced, I went the bathroom, turned on the sink, and within 3 seconds a piece of that vacuum towel holder you attach to the wall fell off. Not the usual functional part that loses strength, our vacuum holders have little plastic decorations attached to them, like butterflies and such. The plastic decoration fell off, this had literally never happened before in my life. Again, I started slightly chuckling to myself like some wacko.
I went looking through my wallpaper folder during the day and the picture with the power lines had completey vanished. I spent minutes going through each wallpaper individually, but to no avail. The wallpaper decided to go away on its own. In the evening, I was discussing a certain guy with my friends online. The person in question is a former communist politician from our country, he's nearing 90 years of age and he's also pretty obscure. After this conversation I went to sleep with that Lain power line noise I played the night before, I wanted to find out if there's some meaning to this or not. This is where the horrible thing begins.
I woke up and I found out that this politician's wife died. She had died hours after we started talking about this extremely obscure politician who is mentioned maybe 50 times a year in the entire world. Picture very, VERY related, check the times. As the day went on Billy Herrington kicked the bucket as well, although I didn't talk about him the day before. I'm going to note though that I have archived a folder with a few hundred of those meme edits of him from the year 2012. I went to sleep again with the same power line noise, and I woke up today.
Lo and behold, a 2 magnitude earthquake in my extremely quiet country where earthquakes are extremely rare, the vast majority of people have never experienced an earthquake in their lives. The last earthquake in this country occurred in the 60s or 70s during the Cold War. In fact, I just found out about this just now as I'm typing this: the earthquake happened at 3:20AM, just after I had fallen asleep with the powerline noise in my ears. 2 magnitude earthquakes aren't usually felt by people but this happened at night in a rural area, at least that's the article's explanation why people were freaking out.

That's all I have for now. I'll try listening to the power line noise tonight as well. The craziness of yesterday made me create this thread.
There's other stuff as well, like how I somehow sensed my sister getting food poisoning while also sensing that my grandmum's broken clock started banging at 3AM on the same day, but writing all of those down at once would be too time consuming.

I've been listening to the power line noise every day since March 2 as an experiment, and I think it's time for me to stop, for my own good. On the 5th I woke up to my earphones being unplugged with my phone's screen facing down even though I don't remember unplugging them. Whatever, I probably did that in stupor in the middle of the night. The day went... nothing odd happened, however I felt a bit ill during the day, not like the common cold but something like general physical weakness with depersonalisation. I'm writing this at 1AM on March 6th.
Skip to midnight, just a few minutes after March 5th ended. I was about to watch an anime I've been wanting to watch for some time now, I took a two-three week break from watching anime so I'm excited for this. I check the first episode, if the subs work and such, and they did. I transfer the show from my external to my computer, safely unplug the external and open the first episode after getting comfy.
The dialogue is gone while other ambient noises such as cars, wind and so on play fine. I thought maybe it's some black magic fuarrrkery with the external so I hooked it back in, but to no avail. Then I started googling if something is wrong, there was some stuff about the video player's audio defaulting to 5.1 while it needs to be stereo, so I checked that and still nothing. All the voices had disappeared.
Then I started thinking that it's a hardware issue with the earphones themselves, so I try my phone. I open up that custom YouTube app I've been using to listen to the power line noise and test my earphones with that, and you know what? The entire frequency of the power line noise is gone. I hear nothing, the earphones are unable to transmit those exact frequencies. I can hear a faint tinge when I up the volume to 100%, but other than that it's complete silence. I tried listening to music and the entire low end seems to be reduced with a bit of mid range gone as well. Picture related, frequencies of the power line sound from SEL - everything after the low end line is silent, and those two lines seem to silence their immediate proximity as well. I got these earphones around September so they're not old. Thankfully I have a pair of cheap earphones that came with my phone laying around, I'm glad that my ears aren't going deaf and it was just the earphones because at one point I seriously thought my ears were fuarrrked. I'm not watching the anime tonight.
Honestly, I think I'm going to switch back to my usual brown-pink noise sleep aid after all this soykaf. Just like with my friend's phone and electric breaker, I (or whatever this is) severely influenced an electronic device in a negative way. I am also fuarrrking terrified.

Old school occultist here.
First of all calm down. You're not in any danger and you certainly didn't kill anyone. Noticing something, even before it happened, isn't the same as making it happen.
Second, unlikely things happen all the time. If you start looking for random correlations you'll find them. Sometimes an earthquake is just an earthquake. Even the people who deliberately walk this path don't take every occurrence as a sign.
Last, it's your head and you may do what you please with it. It'll respond to you. If you want out then just calm down, ignore the weird soykaf and write it off as coincidence. Whatever you do, don't nurture fear. It's never pleasant and you've absolutely nothing to be afraid of.
Turner · 2018-03-06 14:46
Sounds like delusions of reference. Are you getting enough sleep? Is the air in your room OK? No natural gas/carbon monoxide leaks?
>In the past few months I've started listening to ambient noise while falling asleep, stuff like 12 hours of brown/pink/white noise, 8 hours of pure binaural beats and so on.
Lay it off for a month or so and see if that stuff still happens.

>Earlier today
>Walk into the hospital for a regular checkup
>For some reason I suddenly think of Burke and Hare, a pair of criminals in 19th century Scotland who murdered people and sold their corpses to medical schools
>20 seconds later I hear "Paging Doctor Burke." over the intercom
Freaky, but that sort of thing happens.
Let's go through a few of these.
>moth
Merely a coincidence. Did this occur recently? Are you in the northern hemisphere? If so, we are just getting into spring. It isn't all that strange that insects are starting to appear now.
Even if your part of the world isn't entering spring, it's still not a big deal. I have noticed that if I start thinking about spiders too much I often end up finding one in my house. I believe that is because I am unintentionally putting myself on guard by thinking about creepy crawlies.
>Egyptian god shrine
Again, this just seems coincidental to me. Your friend did not know to send you that image at right that second. Did he know beforehand that you had some interest in the occult?
>cow hallucination and the candle burning out
You believe that the image in your mind caused the candle to go out, but I would say that the guttering candle influenced your half-asleep brain.
The same goes for some of the other things, like the earthquake. There is no logical connection between the earthquake and what you chose to listen to while you were in bed. I can guarantee you that there were thousands of people doing things that they didn't normally do shortly before that earthquake happened. You just happened to be one of them.
The fact that you are suffering from all manner of hallucinations and you are assigning special significance to all some of these events concerns me. I'm no doctor, but I have seen that exact same kind of magical thinking in people with serious mental illness.
I'm not trying to scare you, but you really might want to consider speaking to a healthcare professional.
Zero Cool · 2018-03-15 15:35
Sounds like the manic end of bipolar. Everything you describe sounds like something I've experienced or someone I know in that state related to me.
Coincidences and synchronicity happen all the time around us, and some aren't really coincidences, but when manic you start to notice every one of them and more than this, they start to take on special significance.

Sounds like you damaged the voice coil in the headphone speakers. One frequency played for too long can overheat and stress the coil. It has the same effect as feedback.

Replying directly to OP.
You might be suffering from a little psychosis. Full stop, it sounds scary - but really isn't. It's just your brain taking on belief structures and finding patterns where none really exist. It's fully treatable. Have you considered talking to a shrink?

OP, I used to experience this on a regular basis. I never could quite figure it out myself either. It only happened while I was out of my home though. Which I barely ever go out anymore thus my experiences has dwindled away from what they once were. But when I go out there's seldom times it still occurs. I too would like to learn more to what's happening. Now I have to admit I've experimented with drugs in my past. But the core effect started back in 1996 when I was still a kid and never even had touched a cigarette let alone drugs.
Terry McGinnis · 2018-04-11 22:56
I have also experienced this. I will have a thought and later hear it mentioned in the media, or by my peers. I have experiemented with psychadelics quite a bit in the past, but the reason behind that experimentation was a belief as a child that I could create and sense vibrations far beyond my own mind. I think the brain is in a constant state of processing; that information is constantly being decoded and placed into our worldview, even in instances where the initial thoughts that created these understandings are ling since forgotten. Perhaps the subconscious is more active than the conscious with most of our true thoughts and activities occurring outside of the scope of our conscious ability to influence or change them.
Here's an interesting piece of information I came across a few years ago: https://www.rt.com/news/brain-neuroscience-visual-information-709/amp/
Perhaps it's possible that your subconciousness is picking up on information during this 15 second gap. Also I see a possibility that the subconscious may store information or interpret cues and store them until the conscious mind comes across that information and wonders where it came from.
Consciousness is really weird, eh?

Same thing is happening with me, coincidences are taking me to places, it took me to Lain, and other things until I came here now. I dont know if we are being programmed, if we cant handle information so we get psychosis, if they are triggering schizophrenia with eletrical waves, or if the E.C.C.O is real.

The universal conciousness is real and it has a plan, sel is a message and there were many other messages left for us to find.
If you open yourself to what the devine mind has to tell it will lead you to where you should be.

Fun in a way sure but it only opens up more tunnels to explore which drag you away further from being a relatively functional being. I'm still terrified of being alive sometimes purely because I can't comprehend if other people also experience that feeling of being inside a container that your look out from wholly cut off from other entities.
