Hi everyone,
Recently i have begun having nightmares, i cannot remember the last time i had a nightmare but it must have been many many years ago when was a child. This time i feel like it is connected though, i am writing this right after the worst one yet and i think its the third or fourth in the span of maybe 2 weeks. The first time i just jolted awake from normal dreaming but it felt forced. The second time was the same except i was also panicked for a few seconds as well.
Tonight was way worse, i do think i was just normally dreaming but in case it has any relevancy i was dreaming that me and a friend were hunting but basically inside our local town, i shot a boar i think but my friend got mad at me for something to do about not using your rifle inside populated areas which made sense.
He was just starting to Butcher the boar inside some house or maybe an rv when something happened, i feel like it was a chain event of some thoughts but all i remember now is i was in broken glass and maybe bleeding then i was alone and it was dark and this shadow was over me and i started panicking to wake up, i did not want to open my eyes because i was scared of seeing it but i could feel it's precense, i was trying to move my right hand to switch on the lamp next to my bed but my arm was moving so slowly and required lots of force; I recognized this feeling immediately for some reason and knew it was basically sleep paralysis.
I finally woke up and opened my eyes and saw the shadow in human form right over me for a split second.
I was very warm and a little sweaty when i woke up, i also felt a somewhat strong internally stabilizing force inside me which was pleasant because the last two weeks i have had tension in my forehead and have felt mentally slow and also had heart palpitations which were particularly many right before i fell asleep and had the nightmare, based on some research i think i might have low blood pressure but i dont know why.
I bet many people here have had or maybe currently has nightmares but for me this is a surprise, and i felt like this was very important when i woke up like this all had some meaning but maybe this is just my half Lucid brain inventing things.
Has anyone om here has similar experience of having nightmars due to health reasons?
I am thinking i might need to go see a doctor or something now ..

Can you think of any recent changes to your lifestyle or diet? Like having sugar, alc or ciggies before bed? Or some recent worries or anxieties? It would be interesting to figure out if your nightmares were caused by a sudden and hopefully temporary drop in health or your health is a reflection of those dreams or something else.

If this happens again, you should seek out and observe/confront any malevolent presence rather than trying to not see it, even if it feels like you are not capable of this or that it would go badly. IME doing this can significantly improve overall mental health in addition to resolving persistent nightmares.

I think i can connect my nightmares to my heart suddenly going wild, having heart palpitations and symptoms of low blood pressure like i alluded to before. But i cannot see any correlation what so ever between the nightmares/heart to anything else, it came from nowhere.

I have not had a nightmare since then, although my dreams have become disturbing in other ways. It has happened twice now that i have dreamt such a disturbing dream that when i woke up i wanted to write it down.
Interestingly i do sometimes have bouts of paranoia about being watched through the windows at night etc, but i have felt confident and had no paranoia during this period when i started having nightmares which seems contradictory...

i recently started getting nightmares too. it aligned with a drop in health, which was caused by stress and taking less care of myself. for example, ive started getting pretty lenient on the definition of "moldy". after i stopped eating moldy food and stopped alternating between sleeping in and getting up early, and choosing not to stress over my day job, the nightmares subsided.
stress and illness are very common causes of nightmares like what you described. i bet some basic self-care will solve your problem.
sometimes they may uncover some suppressed trauma, if so, hope they go away or talk to a therapist. hoping is cheaper.

the way past is through; yes this is underrated advice. a habit of facing fear will reduce it to mere sensation.
