Eastern Religions & Esoteric Touhou

I recently found this website, Archive of the Sealed Gods, https://archive-of-the-sealed-gods.neocities.org/ Basically, it is a quite sizable website that talks about a theory, the theory that Touhou characters are actually directly connected, somehow and beyond their cultural inspirations, to very real gods. Aside that, it has some basic introductions to Eastern Religions and some very useful link lists. I had an experience related to seeing The Big Dipper, in a hard to see environment, predicting a period of good fortune in my life and it has left me rethinking stuff. Combine some synchronicities and it gets me more unnerved. This Lunar New Year of the Wooden Snake is surely a great opportunity to kickstart this corner of lainchan lol.

>the theory that Touhou characters are actually directly connected, somehow and beyond their cultural inspirations, to very real gods Pretty sure most of them are. I mean it is a Shinto themed schmup. I'd say Touhou is more commercialization of religious imagery than any authentic spirituality. Its the otaku equivalent of ugg boot wearing white girls holding crystals and rambling about the occult. Actually, its worse than that because at least new age white girls are trying to be spiritual whereas most Touhou fans just want to fap. >Combine some synchronicities and it gets me more unnerved. Yeah I can see. Its happened to me before.

>>7611 >I mean it is a Shinto themed schmup. That's exactly the point. Buddhism, Shintoism and Daoism are already known to be syncretized with each other. The interpretations that ZUN made seem to be faithful enough to the original myths & legends, that those gods respond to these new forms. i'd say, around 8 people at a minimum interacted with these gods or whatever the hell they are.
