Simulatory dreams

Hey Lain, first time posting here, maybe, maybe you can help since you don't look as broken as 4chan though that isn't saying much. I'll try to keep it to my /zzz/ problems though this is more of a mix of /psy/ philosophospiritual Lain-type problems so here i go. Lately my dreams have taken a turn to the hyperreal ,as in they feel more high rez than usual reality in terms of vividness and detail while my sense of self isn't exactly lucid but almost subdued and in for a ride that feels way too real. At first it was interesting, but lately is feels more and more like mini simulations being run on different graphic engines with different parameters every time along with what the scenario is. It really feels like something is using my dreamtime to run games and play with consciousness sliders while i'm barely there. Dreams used to be detached and abstract, based on random stuff and old and new memories and worries but now it's like something thought to put them to use for side-projects or some soykaf. What the fuarrrk is happening? The easy thing would be to blame my use of LSD to the point of ego-death a few years back and then my attempt to "balance" it with a meth binge which really schizo'd things up but this thing is a few months old and feels artificial and of a different character than the phenomena i encountered then. I don't feel like going on anti-psychotics and as far as i know only weed stops me from having dreams. Please respond as more than a broken chatbot.

Crosspost with https://lainchan.org/drug/res/14999.html So yeah, you'd be doing me a solid by responding since i can't seem to get across to others when it comes to this subject. It's like it just flies over people's heads when i try to explain it and any psychologists i've been to so far have been the same. Pretty much running out of outlets.

>>6877 I've got a friend who says all his dreams are incredibly vivid like this. Also his dreams are mostly nightmares. Every once in a while he gets one that shakes him but otherwise it's fine. I guess you just get used to it. There ARE ways to prevent dreaming (e.g: sleeping in weird patterns), but they are almost certainly worse than just having some vivid dreams. ... After reading the crosspost, I see the real problem is not the dreams. As someone who also did too many drugs at one point and felt very weird for a long time, the solution is simple: Stop doing drugs for a long time. >Well, the state i've been in for months has been drug free, aside from alcohol, and doesn't seem to be getting anywhere. This is a start, but I'm talking like 2-3 years basically clean. Alcohol is fine. Benzos are fine. Coffee is OK. Make sure you eat right and sleep right. Trust me, it works.

>>6879 Thanks for replying. I've noticed that particularly in days i've drunk too much coffee or alcohol it's more likely to have weird dreamstuff happen to me,never mind the irony of them counting as going drug-free. Also, habitual weed use has been an almost guaranteed way to stop having any dreams in the past,it's just i can't handle the high anymore.

>>6879 >Trust me, it works. I have the opposite experience. I've had multiple years where i took no drugs at all and they were the most fuarrrked up in all respects

>>6880 >Also, habitual weed use Bad, cut that out. If you've been smoking some absurd amount everyday and calling yourself drug free, then congrats, we have identified the problem. Alcohol and benzos get a free pass because they generally suppress brain weirdness. e.g: if you are tripping too hard on acid or took too much speed, alcohol and benzos will help you calm down and reduce the high. Coffee I let slide because whatever, it doesn't do much for most habitual users. Don't go chugging five red bulls or whatever. >>6881 dunno what to say in my limited experience, if someone, like OP, does way too many psychedelics and stimulants and end up feeling schiz'd out, the solution is to stop doing psychs and stims and ground yourself. if, in your experience, it was possible to treat mental breakdown with more psychs and stimulants, then please explain.

>>6884 Nah, just coffee and alcohol these days and even those tend to be on and off in how often i use them. But seriously weed for me just stops dreams from happening. My thought process on why LSD would help is because i view this phase as being stuck in some sort of mental channel or settings and heroic enough dosages just pull the plug and scramble everything. So no matter how weird the stuff i'm going through are i just need to reset again and even if that lands me in some new weirdness,i'd have at least shaken off the bullshit that meth added to this mix. Wasn't planning on trying anything stimmy. I don't want to turn this into a dream blog or w/e but yesterdays dream was just pure chaos and while fun for a bit seeing things losing coherency and waking up to sudden stability is way too jarring.

>only weed stops me from having dreams thats probably the issue, if you smoke on a regular basis you end up having strange vivid dreams whenever you stop due to the rebound from weed suppressing REM cycles.

>>6888 Its been quite some time since i stopped using weed. If i were to blame a substance it would be stims in general but even that doesn't tell the whole story since psyches were the ones that made my previous reality go down the drain.
