Causes of DPDR, ADHD, anxiety/panic, and episodic insomnia?

Wintermute · 2023-09-13 11:18
My anxiety is predominantly physical and not mental. I have OCD-like circular thoughts and feelings of unreality. I'm thinking about trying NAC and L-theanine. I recently stopped taking B12 which helped my anxiety I think.

NAC is a good idea. I only use L-theanine to counteract caffeine in coffee, so just drink green tea instead. You might benefit from iodine supplements, or just eating more fish if you can do that instead.

I can attest that nothing the jews offer you will help. >t. 42 year old mental patient

Alcohol helped me a lot. Post restrictions here are garbage and not a good way to foster content.

>>6436 I'm dealing with similar problems, too. Beta-blockers like propranolol are effective for physical symptoms of anxiety. Maybe you could ask a GP or psychiatrist if you could try it? >OCD I have tried anti-depressants and even. Meds don't work for OCD. The only thing that works is cognitive behavioral therapy or something similar. If you don't have the money for CBT, you can arrange something similar for free but you need to have a person who you can fully trust (parents? or very close friend?). You need to discuss the OCD symptoms with this person and make a written plan how to decrease incrementally them one small step a time (this way you eventually get rid of them or minimize their effects on your life). The plan can be just bullets points and make each step small but meaningful. Then this person needs to check that you are following this plan and doing the home "exercises" that you agreed upon. The easiest way is to have this person call you bi-weekly. This helped me. I used to check doors etc. for like 30+ mins every night and every time I left the house (only once or twice a week). I got rid of the need to do that with this method. I'm now trying to use the same method for reducing the time I spend in the shower (currently, it's about 25 mins BUT it used to be 40+ mins!). I have also stopped washing my hands too often and the time it takes me to wash my hands is shorter as well (meaning normal). I wish you good luck!

>>6436 You could try something like Mirtazapine or Trintellix/Brintellix for your symptoms, if you want to try anti-depressants. The reason why these 2 anti-depressants are better is that in my experience they have less side-effects than the others. But avoid antipsychotics! Use them only if you really have to! >>6503 >I have tried anti-depressants and even. I meant to say "I have tried anti-depressants and even abilify." The meds don't work for OCD!

Id suggest you try to combine NAD + sarcosine. For one thing sarcosine is another possible OCD treatment, for another sarcosine has a glycine component to it and NAC can deplete glycine as it produces glutathione. Sarcosine reduces reuptake of glycine and also breaks down to glycine as well as having activity at the NMDA receptors which are thought to be involved in DPDR. So in theory these should act synergesically. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21508860/ https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0306987711002994 https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31294644/

>OCD I've personally had good luck with atypical antidepressants for primarily obsessive OCD, but meds in general are a crapshoot. I'm on 20mg vortioxetine rn. Functional in ways I only could've dreamt about a year ago. I read somewhere that OCD responds best to antidepressants at higher doses than typically prescribed for depression, and that's about what my experience has been, but that still requires the Sisyphusian task of finding an antidepressant that works. I took a lot of meds that fuarrrked me up worse than the OCD, albeit only temporarily. The worst ones were the first-line antidepressants like Prozac and Zoloft. >L-Theanine Probably placebo but I've had good luck using L-Theanine to mitigate the jitteriness of ritalin, caffeine, and corticosteroids. It seems a bit underpowered for daily anxiety IMO but I don't know how severe your symptoms are. Curious to see how this works out for you lain. >Unreality I feel that. Do you smoke a lot / did your childhood was bad? I got my dissociative symptoms mostly under control a few years ago but sometimes when I get stressed I still catch myself clipping out of reality. Doing DBT techniques on my own has helped me the most with this. Identifying what I'm subconsciously avoiding by leaving reality, and then working through those feelings. For me, just being alive is terrifying. I feel like a water balloon full of blood. Sometimes my fears show up physically because they're too difficult to confront as emotions. Maybe you're different. Well anyway I hope things get better for you.

>>6503 >>OCD My experience with OCD, and I am talking about real OCD, not "teehee I organized my shoes ^___^" is that it is like playing whack a mole. Any compulsion/intrusive thought/etc that you manage to do away with only makes room for another one. In a sense it is like you have a certain amount of memory allocated for these things, and it will always use it for only that. As for DPDR, for me it has always been a symptom of extreme anxiety. I had one major depressive episode when I was younger that was essentially DPDR with feeling like I'm on the edge of a panic attack for 4 months straight. Completely threw my life off-track. It's not the case for everyone but after like a decade of trying to control it, I finally tried zoloft generic and it was like flipping a switch, annihilated my panic tendencies/DPDR.

nigger all anxiety is "physical not mental". have you at least did the homework of learning the neurobiological basics of the thing you call anxiety. tl;dr your brain works bad which makes you feel bad. you can try 49124 different things to make you feel not bad or you can rewire your brain to not be bad you can permanently cure anxiety on your own and never again have to use bandaids like alcohol or silly supplements like l-theanine or whatever i had crippling social anxiety for 20+ years and i permanently and fully healed it in a month anxiety is not something you have to deal so stop looking for ways how to deal with anxiety, instead look for ways to NOT having to deal with anxiety. worked for me

>Causes of DPDR, ADHD, anxiety/panic, and episodic insomnia? I consider myself this board's resident brain energy enjoyer. I (also...) would consider myself as having had all of the above at points. Some of them at a subclinical level, but nonetheless. Personally, I spent around 2-3 months ketogenic/carnivore and the past 6 months "Peating", which includes carbohydrates as simple sugars and introduces a mechanistic interpretation of carbon dioxide et c. as playing a role in ATP production. The first removed some systemic irritants and the second provided a framework for moving forward, doing stuff with life. This was sufficient in my case, speaking from a position of youthful appendectomy. I can't furnish you with definitive proof, but I can opine that I have way more energy and effective intention than I did before. I find that a lot of the stress-mania-type things that I used to enjoy, I enjoy no longer. Nightwalks, roaming around, comes to mind. Additionally, rumination is much decreased, which I consider a positive, seeing as it mostly got in my way. Best of luck. All of this should be readily fixable. https://wiki.chadnet.org/introduction-to-ray-peat.mp4 https://raypeat.com
